I was just a grunt in the People's Army of Vietnam. We were defending Hue City from the capitalist American dogs, and we were holding the line. I was holed up in an apartment on the northern flank of the assault, it was just me and my Mosin on the balcony, overlooking a side street. The rest of my squad was in the alley behind the aparment, waiting in silence. A lone American squad was trying to quietly flank our line, but I would not allow this. As the Americans made their way across the street, I took aim and fired. The American fell over and did not get back up. The rest of his squad dropped prone in the middle of the street, daring not to move, looking for where the shot came from. I took aim again and fired. Another American would not be getting up. After seeing another squadmate die, the Americans stood and ran before I could take another shot. They made it across the street and into the alley, only to be ambushed by my squad.

Cake, psychotic robots, and puzzle solving. That's all you need to know.

Bullets dropping because of gravity, and having to lead your shots. A lot of vehicle warfare, especially in Conquest mode. Better than a lot of other shooter games. This, along with BF3, is my favorite of the series. Servers are still up, and people are still playing. Great game, nostalgia.

I love historical strategy games, and then the ability redo history the way you want is more satisfying. Don't mind me, I'm just a lowly count who put his children in Carolingian bedchambers across all of Europe. Oh that person mysteriously died, meaning my children's marriages are beneficial because they're spouses are set up to inherit everything, and my grandchildren will be of my house, who in time will inherit everything?? And then I'll marry my grandchildren to each other because incest is wincest! Remember, it's all about you and your family surviving! This is a simulator to see how egotistical you can get.
It's a great game overall. The default difficutly isn't too hard, but it's not too easy either. Replay value is very high becasue nothing really happens the same way.
Fun fact: people don't like when you murder the king so you can become king. Civil wars are a ♥♥♥♥♥.

This is by-far my favorite Total War game. It may not be the prettiest looking one of the series, but the gameplay is great. There's nothing more satisfying that watching a katana take someone's head off in slow-motion. Having DLC is a must; it adds more depth to the gameplay so you won't get bored. For example: it is stupidly fun to use guns from Fall of the Samurai against traditional units, but I created a challenge for myself to play an entire campaign using traditional units against AI that will absolutely use guns. And it feels rewarding using tactics to crush a modernized army with an unmodernized one. Compared to Attila, Shogun 2 is the less appetizing choice but all the essential parts are here. It's definitely worth the time and money to play this through.

I love this game for several reasons. I love history, and EUIV does teach some historically correct things. But I also love the ability to change history, to remake the world in your image. I'm actually a History major in college currently. I like how you can focus your game on different ideas such as economy, trade, administration, and colonization etc. You can leave your neighbors in peace but have an empire over seas. Or if you like war, then go for opression and conquering! Hell, you can even make natives extinct! In my one game I was Anhalt (part of the HRE), I went to Mexico and wiped out the Mayans and claimed it as my territory! The last thing that I like is the difficulty. You can mess up and recover, or you can totally get screwed and become somebody's ♥♥♥♥♥.

I was used to the Call of Duty and Battlefield theaters, but then I found this jem. This broke the monotony for me. It's harder than the hardcore modes in both CoD and BF. There are some maps/game modes that are unfair to certain teams, but that makes it more realistic and presents a challenge, and more fun. Because of this unfairness, it forces players to use actual tactics and teamwork to win and stay alive. On some maps you will worship smoke grenades, because they actually work and they'll keep you alive. You'll be frustrated in the beginning because you'll die a lot, but you'll learn to play cautious and smart. This is a game where Leeroy Jenkins, 360 no scoping, and spray and praying are not the best tactics.

Keep in mind this is an Indie game, and it's on the Source Engine, so it won't be the prettiest thing you've ever seen. Also the dev team was small and they were on a budget. But it won 1st place (if I remember correctly) for best Indie game of the year for 2014. There have been quite a few major updates that have really improved the game and the mechanics, and as a result, more people are playing. This really is a great work of art, and it's well worth the money.

Edit: Another reason to buy and play this game! The devs and community have created a WW2 mod! Same mechanics, new maps, era-appropriate weapons, more awesome-sauce! Instead of people constantly yelling "Allahu akbar," they're now yelling "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!" Good times :D

A lot of action, though it can get repetitive. What really makes it fun for me is multiplayer, everyone is a sniper and camping. At first before you're familiarized with multiplayer, it gets frustrating when you can't kill anyone but when you do, you'll feel super accomplished. If you decide to stand up, you don't know if your head is going to get blown off. But then you see an enemy moving and you want to take a shot but you might get your head blown off, or not. You decide to take the shot, but then all of a sudden you see a flash, you were spotted. Either get down and reposition or try to take out the sniper and let the guy who was moving live a little longer, a teamate probably has his sights on him anyways. The uncertainty creates a sort of adrenaline rush!
