Don't even bother. While Destiny 2 has had it's highlights, the game is extremely unhelpful to players who have not already been playing for years. And for the people already playing, for several years now it has felt like game quality has taken a backseat, compared to the focus on "engagement".

At every corner, whatever new content or feature has some kind of twist that makes it needlessly convoluted, or makes players do the same repetitive not-actually-new content over and over again for hours on end. I'm usually not one to mind long grinds, but Destiny consistently does it in the worse ways possible, with abysmally low drop rates, or needless bloating of loot tables, not to mention there is almost never any RNG protection (weapon crafting only fixed the problem for some guns, but a large amount of stuff does NOT benefit from similar things).

Not even to mention the stupid monetization. A 5 year old expansion, which has had all of the story content and map removed, is still required for certain guns. Newer players have no idea what expansions matter in order to enjoy certain content, and you can't even enjoy the story because half of it has been removed. Expansions don't even give you access to all of the year's content, you also have to buy the season passes, AND the stupid dungeon passes if you want to play some of the best content the game has to happen.

And all this has not touched on what motivated me to write this review today, after all this time.

Bungie has been horribly mismanaged by its upper management for years now, and just this week, it had to lay off 17% of its employees, and another 12% had to be moved over to work at Sony instead. This is in spite of the game just releasing one of the best, if not THE best, expansions in its history. How a company can be THIS poorly managed is beyond me (oh, and by the way, the CEO has spent over $2 million on vintage cars in the last two years, and is somehow still running this company despite his evident mishandling over the past several years).

In light of this, I frankly have no hope left in this game, and expect it to continue on a downward trajectory.

Outstanding co-op game that's fun to play even if you don't have friends to play with (but they do make it better). Devs have shown good support for the game so far, doing live service in a way that actually fits the game and doesn't feel like it exists just to suck your money away.

The warbond (battle passes) can be bought with currency that's earnable in game.

Don't even bother with this game. While it was a good game on release, it became obvious that the PC version was just a test for the PS4 version. After getting all the money that PC players spent on this game, they came out with a PS4 version and now only update that. The PC version hasn't had an update in months, and many things in the game are still unbalanced.
