There's nothing quite like this game. There are so many unique characters that you learn about just by seeing what they find important enough to put on their internet pages. You'll get obsessed with niche internet subcultures and start forming strong opinions about fake celebrities without even realizing it. And the music to be found in here is shockingly good.

This game's an absolute gem for the discovery genre. The kind of game where everything makes so much sense in hindsight, but is completely esoteric and incomprehensible as you're starting out.

This is the best game ever made, bar none, and I only feel that way HALF ironically. It's not just fun in spite of all the rough edges and jank, it's fun partly BECAUSE of them, and there's just a lot to like.

Games in this genre typically have an information based progression where you start out knowing next to nothing and you have little control over the world around you, but as time goes on, you build familiarity and learn tricks and secrets that give you mastery over the space you're in. Blue Prince has the first part locked down, but the second part, not really. There are secrets, and there are tricks, but not as many as one would like, and not enough to ever make it so that you're not at the mercy of RNG.

It's a shame because it feels like some of the problems with progression in this could be solved with some slight number tweaking, but the high odds of going through many runs without learning something new, not through any fault of your own but because you weren't presented with the opportunity, eventually wears down on you.

I want to like it, but there are some pretty severe issues with performance and interaction that hamper the enjoyment a lot. The framerate will plunge at inopportune times and you get locked into long but uneventful animation sequences when interacting with things that makes you feel disincentivized to experiment. I think that maybe the original point and click games had less of an issue with this.

This is the gold standard for metroidvanias, with lots to love. The exploration, the atmosphere, the boss fights, the lore, the secret discoveries, everything contributes to a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Incredible game, takes a lot of the good things about Hollow Knight and cranks them up to 11. Fights are less of a war of attrition like in the first game and more quick and decisive. You live fast, and you die fast. It's deliciously difficult.

Unparalleled atmosphere as well, the whole game looks and sounds gorgeous and it's absolutely crammed with interesting details.

One of the best puzzle games I've played. There's so much more to offer than initially appears, and swapping theories with a friend as we ran through it together was the highlight of my day for a while. Just when you think you finally really understand what's going on, this game continuously pulls the rug out from under you again and again. There's an extremely satisfying cycle of thinking you've figured everything out and realizing you don't understand anything yet.

An extremely thoughtful game about everything and nothing at the same time.

I shouldn't be surprised that this was good, considering how good Pony Island and Inscryption were. But this was still surprisingly good.
