A faithful remake of the first Atelier game. The soundtrack and artwork are both very polished. The alchemy system is pretty simple compared to more modern Atelier games, but it fits the vibe of the game. A run takes around 8-12 hours or so, and you may have to do 5 or 6 runs to get every ending. You could be smart about it and save occasionally while satisfying the ending requirements from lowest to highest priority, but the fact that you viewed those endings are not saved in the in-game event list should you choose to enter NG+. If you are new to the series, this game is a decent starting point, due to how lenient the in-game time limit is.
The only thing that annoyed me about the game was that the additional scenes that were added for the remake ended up not being voiced at all. This is compared to the original Atelier Marie where nearly every scene, if not all, were voiced. Therefore, while playing, maybe around 80% of the scenes will be voiced. This isn't that big of a deal but it did take me out of the game a little, since it was easy to pick up on if it was an original or a remake scene.
Overall I'd rate this game an 8/10, and it's a good introduction to the Atelier series. As for the pricing, I can't recommend it at $50. Maybe if it ever goes on sale for $30 or less. But it's Koei Tecmo + Atelier + Steam, so I highly doubt it'll be on sale for that low very often, if at all. Anyway yeah good game + gust please make firis 2
