Wasn’t sure, why is this DLC getting such a hate before I played it. Now I know. It wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t good. I liked the whole idea of the story, I was meh about the execution of it, but I hated the extremely forced relationship and the whole idea of main protagonist having her/his own family. Throughout the game, as you get to know the main protagonist (Kassandra/Alexios) more and more, you really get the idea of why is she/he alone and you develop (at least I did) a feeling, that loneliness (familywise) is actually advantageous. You live a fast and hectic life. Now, a baby and partner is thrown at you out of nowhere after knowing him/her for like 30 minutes without you liking it, and despite dialogue options, can’t do anything about it. And of course, it does not last long (that’s the good part actually). Basically the storyline revolves around your kid and partner, that you really don’t care about, because they were introduced so quickly, without developing any real connection with them.

Also I don’t understand how can this DLC be for the same price that the other one (The Fate of Atlantis) is. With The Fate of Atlantis, you get three beautifully made and original worlds with different ideas behind them and people inside them, new items, at least 30 hours of playtime, ton of ability points and so on. With this one, you play in original greek map, you have very little playtime (went through it in one 6h session, but I had everything explored beforehand), ability to kill few people (reusing the cultists concept), kinda interesting side story and a cool old man with what looks like hidden blade’s grandpa (you can’t have it of course).

Overall, I do not recommend this DLC to anyone expecting decent playtime, storyline, in-game items or so on. If you want to go for playing Odyssey at 100% like me, then go for it, at least it wont last long.

With Odyssey, you are not getting all aspects of classical Assassins Creed game. Hidden blades are not present and stealth is often overlooked. What you are getting is fully developed RPG with massive map, ton of locations, skill trees, different specialization (warrior, assassin, hunter), beautiful greek sceneries over sees and olive trees, and most importantly story, that will pull you into greek world and make you feel like a true hero.

I was a bit skeptical buying this game because I love the feel of hidden blade and stealth. I also didn’t like the idea of leveling. But actually, you can make the stealth work by prioritizing assassin gear and abilities (still it’s not fully ‘assassins creed’, but much more bearable). The leveling system is a different idea, it basically forces you to follow a path the devs wanted you to take in my opinion (at least at the beginning).

As the story goes, main story is pretty short in my opinion. There is a lot of side quests and different bounty type things to make it up. You often get a chance to make your own decision in cut scenes, but it often makes little to no difference it the long run (main story is exception).

Gameplay is relatively smooth and controls are great. Abilities feel a little bit overwhelming, when fighting is often just about pushing different keys to use different abilities, not much about actual fight. In my 150h I have experienced only one bug that I was forced to reload latest save. You can spot or experience minor bugs from time to time, but they are not very noticeable.

After about 150 hours I can confidently say I really like this game. I have all quests and around 75% of locations done, now going through DLCs. I reckon I have still around 30-50 hours of playtime before I have nothing to do or the stuff to do will be too much repetitive.
