I'm afraid I can't recommend the game in its current state. Even ignoring the major parts of the game (hinted at from the very start) that, depending on who you believe, were cut for time or were "a joke all along," it needs a lot more time for polish and tweaking.

You can see evidence of this in the near-daily patches the developers have been pushing out since the game launched. Rapid patching to fix obscure bugs is a good thing—those can be hard to catch before launch. Rapid patching to resolve basic gameplay issues and make big changes to balance, on the other hand, is a sign that the game was too rushed to receive proper playtesting. Since launch, a teleport stone was added to attempt to mitigate travel times, the length of each day has increased dramatically, stone was changed from a limited resource to an unlimited resource, and much more. These are issues that should have been obvious.

Even with all the patches, I have some major issues with the tech tree. Simple quality-of-life things like being able to see exactly what is unlocked with each tech (and what it costs to build) are absent. The tech tree also feels ill-conceived, with early tech in one tree requiring components you don't unlock until very late in another tree. The progression just feels out of whack.

Maybe you'll enjoy being a guinea pig for this game. I know I'll be waiting a few weeks or months to see if it stabilizes before I consider booting it up again.
