Just finished my first playthrough after about 10 hours. If you're looking for a first-person Resident Evil type game, this is your game. The game includes solid combat, challenging puzzles, a decent story, two entirely different campaigns to playthrough, and a fair amount of horror. For $15 I am impressed!

COMBAT: The combat system is what you would expect out of a resident evil style shooter. There is hardly a HUD; you have to manage your own load and keep track of how many rounds are in your weapon. You can always press Q to check, but there's no constant notification in the bottom right like you'd find in a typical shooter. Personally, I LOVED this. Mostly because each weapon has it's own animation to conduct a "press check," which is really, really well animated. Headshots are king, as always, and there is a solid amount of gore animation depending on where you shoot. Using a candy bar to restore health keeps you from shooting, but using a water bottle does not. That is my only complaint, and it's minor. Some of the negative comments say the boss fights are too hard. You really need to understand this game is not a face tank game. You'll need to shoot and move, shoot and move, and carefully place your shots where they need to go. Even if you feel the game is too hard, the extras menu was a solid addition for those who need some assistance, and it really doesn't take long to find enough Euro to buy extras to make it a little easier with infinite ammo/more powerful weapons/etc. As far as combat goes, 8/10.

PUZZLES: Man, this game's puzzles were HARD. There were definitely a few I needed some help on. But it's refreshing, it adds another level of complexity to the game that a lot of games miss. I'd say it's one of the main differences between this game and a Resident Evil game. You have to be pretty dull to struggle through a RE puzzle, but this one requires you to read documents, use critical thinking, and make decisions. The puzzle skips were a cool idea, but I didn't use any. I liked the challenge, and a I know a lot of other do too. We appreciate this! Puzzles 9/10.

STORY/LORE: A little cheesy at times, but not over the top. Toward that end I got a little confused who some of the big named bosses were, but overall not bad. The comic-style cut scenes were different, and weren't too long or too short. I'm probably not the best person to rate this as I've never been a huge lore/story guy, but if I had to? Story/Lore 7/10.

HORROR: The jumpscares in this game were 10/10. If you plan on playing, please with headphones in a dark room with the volume on high. The game does a good job of keeping you complacent, then hitting you with a jump scare. They aren't too often, which is perfect. You'll just be running around, figuring out your way through the hotel, then boom, jumpscare. The game waits JUST long enough to make you forget it's a horror game before hitting you with one. I don't want to give them away, so you'll have to see for yourself. Horror 10/10.
