At first I thought it was only "okay". Had it lying around for a while. Then I started playing it with my girlfriend and got into all the mechanics. Instead of thinking things were stupid, I started embracing the mechanics. Actively looking for fame, building my districts strategically, making smart culture ascension choices, using the terrain to my advantage in battles. It's become _so fun_ to play. Would definitely recommend! STOP THINKING CIV, START THINKING HUMANKIND!

I hope some parts get improved like, religion, civics, wonders and events. These feel like they could be more unique, and have more immersive flair to them. With the events they feel so game-y a lot of the times that I just skip reading the text.

Game really threw me for a loop. What a ride. What really sold me was the mechanics. There's a lot of exploration one can do with the simple concepts that are presented. What got me was all the moments where I thought "What if I do this...?" and then having some kind of payoff by combining the different mechanics in the game. It doesn't hurt that the graphics are very well made from the pixely map to the animations and portraits.

Played this with my girlfriend who was a big Amnesia: The Dark Descent fan and this was her review:

"Would have been an okay game, but not for Frictional's standards. Plays like a fan fiction without understanding what made the previous titles so good. It was neither scary nor did it make me think."

My review:

Meh. Definitely the weakest of all the Frictional Games. The novel baby mechanics are interesting but I think it could've been its own series with its own thematic. It feels shoved into the Amnesia universe to the detriment of itself and Amnesia. To sum it up, the narrative is weak and the horror is weak, so if you're a fan of Frictional games I wouldn't recommend this. Maybe pick it up on a sale just so you can say you've played through all of the games.

At first I thought the explanation for the MULEs was retarded. Then I realized that I hadn't progressed the main quest for 20 hours. I _am_ the MULE.
