This is be a great game with loads of (sort of unexplored) potential. The graphics give the game an amazing atmosphere, the different classes are varied and really fun to play, the soundtrack kicks ass. You can easily spend 70+ hours if you like roguelike stuff, probably triple that if you find the Commando relic (which lets you choose which items you pick).

But the only problem is that, while the game has support for multiplayer, due to engine limitations, you'll have to either use portforwarding or programs such as Hamachi or Evolve. There's no actual official server list or browser.

The devs also release some bugfixes from time to time while they're focusing on Risk of Rain 2.

Thanks for the advice, I'll reword it. I'm not that familiar with reviews haha

also, I should note that the multiplayer framework used for ror was outsourced to another guy, because game maker studio is awful as usual and has no native multiplayer component, and hopoo can't spend the time on making their own. that's part of the reason why there are still some multiplayer bugs and a lack of functionality, aside from the fact that all of the devs are off at uni.

you need to reword your review. ror has "native multiplayer" in the sense that it is natively integrated with the game and operating system, and may work fine without portforwarding depending on your network setup. the word you're probably looking for is "matchmaking" which ror does not have, nor does it have a master server/native server browser, or UPnP support (automatic portforwarding).
these are the problems most people have with the game and due to not understanding them they resort to installing that spyware hamachi or some other shitty "fake LAN" alternative that they really don't need.
