I picked this up during a Humble Bundle sale having never heard of it. I didn't know what to expect and really wasn't expecting much. To my surprise, Nihilumbra delivered and turned out to be one of the best and most underrated indie games I've ever played.

Story:
You are Born. Born was created from The Void but has somehow separated from it and is now in the world. However, The Void will not allow this and is now chasing Born in an attempt to suck him back into the darkness. In order for Born to escape The Void, he must allow everything else in his path be destroyed.

Gameplay:
Nihilumbra is a puzzle-platformer. As you progress through the game, Born will be granted new colors, which the player can use to paint the terrain in order to solve puzzles and aid him in his platforming. In total there are five different colors. Each have a different use and create a different effect. Throughout the game, Born will be accompanied by a narrator that will talk to him. It is uknown exactly who this narrator is whether he be Born, The Void or something else. The narrator really gives this game it's charm and gives insight to the world and what is going on. Sometimes he says some really philosophical things and it really adds to the atmosphere. Speaking of that, the atmosphere is amazing. The combination of colors, textures, music and narration sets a very solemn, yet relaxing mood. The main part of the game is very short. It only took me about 4 hours to complete. However, once you complete it, you'll unlock “Void Mode” which is essentially hard mode. Void Mode offers the same levels but with different and much harder puzzles.

Conclusion:
Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone that's a fan of platformers or puzzle-platformers. It's really unique and highly underrated. Nihilumbra is a very insightful, relaxing and fun experience. That's what this game is. It's more than just a game. It's an experience to be had.

I'm not really a fan of zombies or zombie games. They've never really scared me and they're a dime a dozen these days. So when I picked this up during a Humble Bundle sale for really cheap, I wasn't expecting much. However, this game surpassed my expectations and turned out to be one of the best indie games included in the bundle.

Story:
The game takes place in Seattle in 1986 after the outbreak of a virus that has resurrected the dead and turned them into zombies. You assume the role of Randall Wayne, a park ranger and survivor of the virus who is on his way to the last remaining safe point in hopes of finding his wife and daughter.

Gameplay:
Deadlight combines elements of a platforming, puzzle solving and horror. You're always encouraged to run away from the zombies you encounter unless you have no other option. You're only armed with an axe, but as you progress through the game you'll come across a handgun and a shotgun. Ammunition is limited though, so you should only use when it's necessary. The meat of this game is the platforming. It makes good use of parkour, which is the best part about this game in my opinion. The game is very linear, but very fun to play. Included are several things to collect, which makes the experience more fulfilling as it offers something in addition to just playing through each level and progressing through the story. There's also an additional mode called "Nightmare Mode", which is basically the same as the main story except you're not allowed to die. If you die in Nightmare Mode, then you must restart from the very beginning.

Negatives:
The only negative for this game is it's length. It took me less than 7 hours to complete 100%. That's not always a bad thing. Not every game has to be 20 hours or 40 hours long. I just think $15 is a bit much to ask for a game that's so short. Sure, you could play Nightmare Mode. I'm sure that would add lots of time, but it's just more of the same on a much harder difficulty and doesn't really add anything new.

Conclusion:
Overall, I'd recommend this game to anyone that's a fan of platformers or zombie games. I'm not even a fan of zombies, but I still really enjoyed this game. The story is good and the gameplay is great. It's well worth buying, but because of it's short length, I'd suggest waiting for it to go on sale.

Love is a short, but very fun indie platformer. There is no story. It's just pure platforming.

The game has five different modes
Arcade Mode: You have 100 lives and an unlimited number of checkpoints.
Easy Mode: You have unlimited lives, but you score less points.
YOLO Mode: You only get one life.
Speedrun Mode: You have to try and beat the game as fast as possible.
Remix Mode: 8 additional remixed levels.

The main game has 16 levels, while Remix Mode offers 8 additional remixed levels. All of which are short, but moderately challenging. There are a lot of indie platformers out there that are ridiculously hard. This one offers a challenge, but doesn't feel impossible to beat. Unless of course, you're playing on YOLO mode. That really does feel impossible at times. As I said, the game is short. There's even an achievement for completing the speedrun in under 12 minutes. That should give you an idea of the length of this game. Still, it took me a little over 5 hours to get 18/19 achievements. It's also worth noting that the soundtrack is fantastic.

Conclusion:
If you're a fan of platformers, I'd definitely recommend this. It's a short game, but it's well worth the price it's listed. If you're looking for a story, this doesn't have one. However, if you just want a good platformer that's moderately challenging, I think you'll enjoy it.

Prior to playing this, I hadn't played many RPGs at all. I'd played Oblivion and Skyrim, but that was really it. I had also played The Stick Of Truth and that was the only turn-based RPG I'd played. However, I had seen enough gameplay of the Final Fantasy series and Earthbound to know what I was in for. After playing The Stick Of Truth and loving it so much, I wanted to get into turn-based RPGs. I saw the price of this game and decided to get it. I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed.

Story:
Set in the future, humanity has been wiped out by nuclear warfare. The undead remained, who rebuilt civilization. All was well until evil invaded the lands. You assume the role of Dem, a skeleton hero and silent protagonist. Dem meets Sara, a historian and mind reader who forces her adventure on Dem to uncover the secrets of the past. Join Dem and Sara on their journey as they meet new friends and combat evil foes along the way.

Gameplay:
This is your standard turn-based RPG gameplay. There's really not much else to comment on. You roam around, a random encounter happens and battle ensues. You can use your basic attack, a more advanced “Tech” attack, magic and even use double team or “Unite” moves with someone in your party. As you advance in the game, meet new party members and acquire better weapons and armor. You'll also level up and learn new attacks. This game breaks the fourth wall constantly. You won't have to question what type of game you're playing. It will be sure to let you know that you're playing a turn-based RPG with it's constant references to the typical happenings of these types of games. That's one thing I loved about this game. It adds comedic relief to an otherwise serious genre. I mentioned that Dem is a silent protagonist. He doesn't verbally communicate, but the game allows you to read his thoughts. Sara is also able to read his mind so there is still communication, which adds to the light-hearted narrative.

Conclusion:
Overall, I'd recommend this game to anyone that's a fan of turn-based RPGs or is trying to get into them. This is a tribute and love letter to the classic JRPGs of the past. The gameplay is fun, the story keeps you interested and it's use of satire gives it charm. It's a short game, but for the price, I can't really complain.

If you haven't played Metro 2033 Redux, I would highly recommend playing that first.
I'm sure Metro 2033 will do just fine in terms of helping you understand the story, but I can't recommend it as I've never played it. However, I have played Metro 2033 Redux and it's an incredible game.

Story:
The game takes place one year after the events of Metro 2033. The story continues from the canonical ending, better known as the “bad ending” of 2033. You resume the role of Artyom as he is now a Ranger. After launching the missles and seemingly wiping out the Dark Ones, Artyom's remorse for his actions have led him to having chronic nightmares. But when Khan informs Artyom that he has discovered a surviving Dark One in the Botanical Gardens, there may be one last hope for redemption and the future of humanity. Meanwhile, when word gets out that The Rangers have occupied D6, rival factions gear up to take control of the facility and it's supplies for themselves.

Gameplay:
The gameplay in this is amazing. The game switches back and forth between stealth and heavy shooting. It keeps the game fresh and it never feels dull. On some levels you'll be turning lamps out, hiding in the darkness and knocking out soldiers as you quietly try to complete your objective. On other levels, you'll be surrounded by a swarm of mutants as you blast away with your shotgun. Once again, on the stealth levels, stealth isn't mandatory but it's certainly advised and much more fun. But if you absolutely hate stealth, you can blast your way through everyone so long as you aren't playing on a hard difficulty. Just like in 2033 Redux, there are several types of mutants from nosalis to watchers to the occasional demon among others. And just like in 2033 Redux, you'll come across weapon shops periodically where you can spend your military-grade rounds on guns, upgrades for your guns, ammunition, medkits and more. The moral point system returns in this game. It's one of the only things I don't like about the game. I like the idea of playing a role and choosing between good deeds and bad deeds, but this game seems to arbitrarily give you moral points for random things such as discovering a dead body in a dark corner or exploring the level and finding a secret location. Because of this, it's very easy to get the bad ending in this game, much like it was in Metro 2033.

Metro: Last Light Redux includes all of the downloadable content from the original Last Light including the Faction Pack, the Tower Pack, the Developer Pack, the Chronicles Pack, the DLC-exclusive weapons and Survival Mode. There are apparently some graphical upgrades, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the look of this game and the original Last Light.

Conclusion:
Overall, I'd highly recommend this game to anyone that's a fan of post-apocalyptic games, FPS games or stealth games. The story keeps you interested, the gameplay is great and keeps you hooked, while the graphics are gorgeous and creates an incredible atmosphere throughout. Once again, I would suggest that you play Metro 2033 Redux before this game as it will help you understand the story and it's just as good as it's successor.

Spy Chameleon - RGB Agent is a fun, unique and charming indie game for fans of stealth and puzzle games.

It a fairly short, but challenging game. I completed the game with 29/30 achievements in a little over 11 hours. It can be difficult and will have you raging at times, but it's very enjoyable. There are some indie games that are so challenging, you feel like the developers hate you and just want you to suffer. However, this game is difficult enough to make you feel challenged without making you feel like completing it is an impossible task.

There is no story. It's just 75 levels of pure gameplay. In addition to the 75 levels, each one has 3 corresponding challenges to complete. There's collect all flies, collect all ladybugs and beat the time. This gives each level replayability. I was surprised at how innovative the game felt. As you progressed through the game, the levels not only became harder and more complex, but they added things into the environment that added advantages and disadvantages. There's colored surfaces to help you blend in, button-triggered moving walls to hide behind, boxes to hide in, etc.

Conclusion:
This game is worth checking out if you're a fan of stealth games or puzzle games and is definitely worth the $5 it's priced at. There is no story. So if you need a plot to enjoy a game, this game doesn't have it. But if you just want a moderately challenging puzzle game, this is a good one.

I had heard some things about this game before I got it. I heard some good things and some bad things, but the majority of the things I heard made this game sound more mediocre and disappointing than anything. Many people played this game expecting to get the original Thief game, which caused disappointment for them. I haven't gotten around to playing the original Thief games, so I can't make the comparison, but I wouldn't say that this game is bad. In fact, I actually found it to be quite good. Sure it has it's issues, but I definitely got my money's worth considering I bought it on sale for just over $10, put in 50+ hours and felt thoroughly entertained throughout the game.

Story:
The game begins as you take on the role of Garrett, a thief-for-hire as he is in pursuit of the Primal Stone, a gem that his contact Basso has asked of him to acquire. Garrett is joined by Erin, his young and naïve apprentice. Garrett and Erin are on their way to Baron Northcrest's manor in hopes of stealing the stone. When they arrive on the roof of the manor and gaze through the rooftop window, they see Baron Northcrest performing some sort of ritual with the stone. Feeling uneasy, Garrett calls off the job. Erin objects and a brief altercation ensues before Erin falls through the glass window and into the ritual. As Garrett jumps through the roof in an attempt to save her, a part of the building collapses onto him and knocks him unconscious. Garrett awakens one year later to find the city is plagued by The Gloom, a plague that causes it's victims to hear voices and kill themselves. Garrett himself has started to have visions of Erin and learns that she may still be alive. Garrett is now in pursuit of finding her. Meanwhile, Orion, one of Garrett's new clients is leading a rebellion against the Baron and Garrett is stuck in the middle of it all.

Gameplay:
The gameplay can be really addictive and immersive. It's so fun hiding, sneaking around and collecting loot. You can spend your loot on upgrades for Garrett's abilities and weapons. The game is fairly big. At times, I felt overwhelmed at how much there was to explore as I'm a completionist and want to get as much out of the game as possible and explore every corner of every map. I would describe this game as pseudo-open-world. The game is centered around The City, which is divided into different districts. You can roam The City as you please if you're not in the middle of a chapter. You'll come across a loading screen when you go from one district to another. In order to progress through the story, you'll have to complete the main story chapters. The story chapters are a bit more linear. Each main story chapter is found in different parts of The City and will be replayable once you complete them by revisiting their respective areas. I guess you could compare this game's open-worldness to Super Mario 64. In Super Mario 64, you could roam throughout the castle and access each level by jumping through the paintings. This is kind of like that, except The City is much larger and has more to do. On top of the main story, there are side missions to do and different collectibles to find, which are displayed in Garrett's hideout for you to admire when you're not in the middle of a chapter. There are three different playstyles in the game – Ghost, Opportunist and Predator. You can play the game trying to remain completely undetected and unseen under the ghost playstyle, use the environment to distract enemies and get what you need under the opportunist playstyle or knockout anyone in your way under the predator playstyle. There are various thieving challenges to complete depending on which playstyle you choose.

The Negatives:
I've come across a couple of glitches in this game. I've noticed the AI spinning in circles at high speeds or just standing there without moving to the point where you could literally walk through them as if they didn't even exist. I've also noticed points in the game where Garrett would get stuck in a corner and I'd have to reload my most recent save so I could continue playing. This could be frustrating at times and made me glad that I saved the game as often as I did. Granted, these glitches weren't incredibly frequent, but they did happen on more than one occasion. Also, Garrett doesn't have the strongest character. The stoic voice acting is fitting, yet makes him come across as rather dull. I didn't think it was bad, but I just thought he could have used a bit more charm. There are some people that complain about the story. I wouldn't call it bad, but it wasn't anything groundbreaking either. It was decent and was enough to keep my interest. My problem was the ending. I don't want to spoil anything, but I'll just say that it left me with the same feeling of confusion that Bioshock Infinite's ending did. Perhaps some people like that sort of thing, but I wasn't a huge fan of it or the confusion it left me with. I mentioned the game's size earlier and how overwhelming it felt at times. I meant that in a good way. However, the downside to that is the map navigation. Navigating the map in the linear chapter missions were fine, but navigating The City could be very confusing if you didn't remember how to get from one district to another. As much as I love freeroaming The City, it can feel very clunky and easy to get lost in even if you're using the map.

Conclusion:
Overall, if you like stealth games, I'd recommend picking this one up when it's on sale. While there are people like me who enjoy the game, there are many who don't. I think it depends on each person individually and what it is they expect from the game. If you haven't played a Thief game before or if you're able to put your personal bias for the older games in the series aside and treat this as it's own entity, I think you'll find it has a lot of content to offer for the sale price to keep you busy and entertained.

If you're a fan of South Park, you NEED to get this game. I got it on sale, but honestly, it would have been worth the full price. I'm a huge fan of South Park and have been for years. I've seen just about every episode, many of them multiple times. In a way, this game is a tribute to the TV series. It references past episodes and characters and is very nostalgic at times. That alone hooked me. There's so much charm to this game, but perhaps the most charming thing about it is it's authenticity in relation to the show. It's like you're playing through an entire season of the series and you really feel like you're in South Park.

Story:
You're the new kid and your family just moved to South Park. Your parents encourage you to go outside and make some new friends. Soon after leaving your house, you meet Butters, who becomes your first friend and introduces you to The Wizard King, better known as Cartman. While there, you'll also meet Clyde, Scott Malkinson and Kenny...Princess Kenny. Cartman reveals to you The Stick Of Truth and explains that there is a war between the humans (Cartman's group) and elves (Kyle's group) who are each trying to possess the stick. During the explanation, Kyle's elves attack Cartman's base and your journey begins.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is really fun and very immersive. You start the game by editing your character's appearance to your liking. You can choose your hair style, skin tone, clothes, etc. And no, you can't play as a female. If you've ever played Paper Mario, this feels a lot like it. Your party consists of Cartman, Butters, Princess Kenny, Stan, Kyle and Jimmy. Each of them you will meet and acquire as you progress throughout the story. You can battle alongside one party member at a time, who each have different and unique abilities. There's even special friends you can summon to help you in battle once per day, which consists of Mr. Lu Kim, Jesus, Mr. Hankey and Mr. Slave. As you win battles and progress through the game, you'll gain XP and level up. Once you level up, you'll be able to upgrade your abilities. The game also puts a heavy emphasis on farting. That should come as no surprise to any fan of South Park. You'll learn different types of farts throughout the game that you can use both in and out of battle. You can't run from random encounters once you're in battle, but you can attempt to run from an enemy before the encounter in order to avoid it. This is very convenient because it gives you a chance to continue with whatever you're doing if you don't feel like fighting and it keeps the turn-based system from being an annoying pest like it is in other RPGs. The game offers many side quests and things to collect. Sure, you could just rush the game and complete the main story, but you'd be missing out on so much. There's a total of 120 friends to make. Many of them will ask you to do something for them before befriending you. There's also 30 chinpokomon to collect as well as equipment and weapons to find and purchase.

The Negatives:
When it comes to the negatives of this game, many have complained that it's too short. After beating the game, collecting every chinpokomon, making every friend and unlocking nearly every achievement, my save clocked in at 17 hours. However, this doesn't include the amount of time I've spent playing and loading past saves after losing in battle or to get something I missed or forgot about. So if we're counting all of that, Steam shows I put in 30 hours, which I would say is a good amount of time. I still would have liked for this to be longer simply due to how much fun I had with it. I had a feeling of sadness when the end credits came on because I didn't want it to end. Another complaint some have had is that you can only level up to level 15. On the surface this sounds annoying, but you'll easily defeat most enemies at this point and leveling higher would be unnecessary. Other complaints I have is that there were some characters and locations that weren't included in the game such as Raisins, Hells Pass Hospital, Grandpa Marsh, Satan, Towelie and Kyle's cousin. Also, there are some collectibles in the game that are only accessible during a certain quest, leaving them forever unobtainable if you forget to pick them up. So if you're a completionist or if you're very OCD about collecting things like I am, this can become upsetting. Overall though, the positives far outweigh the negatives and I'm sure that many of the negatives such as the missing characters and locations will be corrected if we get a sequel, which I'm URGENTLY awaiting by the way. Make it happen, Matt and Trey.

Conclusion:
If you're a fan of South Park, I'd HIGHLY recommend this. The game stays true to the TV series. It feels authentic because quite frankly, it is. You feel like you're actually playing out a season of South Park. The game offers a good story, immersive gameplay and lots of laughs along the way.

I'm not really a fan of shooters that are based off of historic wars. War stories typically don't intrigue me and I usually find them to be repetitive and dull, which means games like this need to have superb gameplay in order for me to enjoy it. Fortunately, Sniper Elite V2's gameplay delivers.

Story:
The game takes place in Berlin. It's 1945 and nearing the end of World War II. The Americans are gathering the best of Germany's rocket scientists and V2 programme architects for Operation Overcast. You assume the role of Karl Fairburne, an american sniper sent out to make sure those scientists don't end up in Russia's hands.

Gameplay:
Unlike other modern day shooters, Sniper Elite V2 doesn't focus so much on going in guns blazing. Instead, it focuses on stealth and strategically timing your shots in order to complete your mission unnoticed and unharmed. As you can probably tell by the title, this is a sniping game. It's largely focused on sniping your enemies from distances while staying in cover. Sniping out enemies with your rifle is so satisfying thanks to the x-ray effect. When you pull the trigger, a short slow-motion cinematic shot will begin showing the bullet penetrate your enemy. For example, if you shoot your enemy through the eye, it'll show the bullet penetrating the eye and coming out of the back of the skull. Even after doing this for hours, it never gets old. You're always trying to get that next great headshot. However, it's not all about sniping. There will be times when an enemy soldier will be alerted by the sound of your rifle and you'll have to defend yourself in other ways. The game allows you to carry three weapons at a time. This usually consists of one rifle, one pistol and one machine gun. The game also allows you to carry various equipment such as trip wires, land mines, dynamite and even rocks to distract your enemies. With so many options, the gameplay definitely makes up for it's lack of interesting storytelling.

The game also has different collectibles to pick up throughout each level if you care about that sort of thing, but it's up to the player and isn't necessary in order to complete the game. It's a nice additional feature that encourages the player to explore every corner of the map.

Conclusion:
If you're a fan of third-person shooters, stealth games, or if you just love sniping, I'd definitely check this out. I'd also recommend getting the DLC packs for this game as they contain extra missions and weapons. I can't say the additional weapons are worth it because I didn't find myself using them that often. However, the four additional missions should add on a few more hours of fun if the base game left you craving more.

Do you like FPS games? Do you like FPS games in a sandbox world? Do you like games that push things to the edge in a world of political correctness? Well, POSTAL 2 might just be the game for you.

Story:
The story of the game is simple. It's all about the protagonist fittingly named Postal Dude and his daily errands. The game is separated into five levels, but if you include the Apocalypse Weekend expansion, there's seven. One level for each day of the week. Each day has it's own list of errands that Dude must complete in order to progress to the next day. As you follow Postal Dude on his journey and complete errands, something always goes wrong such as being attacked by video game protesters, rednecks and various other social groups that become Dude's enemies throughout the game.

Gameplay:
The game gives you a large arsenal of weapons to combat these enemies. Sure, you can use your standard weapons like shotguns or machine guns, but why stop there when you can get a cat and attach it's rear end to the muzzle? There's a great selection of melee weapons as well. There's sledgehammers, boomerang machetes, shears, scythes and more. So if decapitating your enemies with a shotgun blow to the head just isn't doing it for you, you can run around with your shears and manually dismember your enemies limb by limb. There's also gasoline and matches that you can use to set people on fire. Did I mention that you can piss on people? Well you can. You can even piss on yourself. So if you ever find yourself on fire, just unzip, look up and let it rain. You can play the game the way YOU want to play it. If you want to run around shooting everything in sight, you can. However, if you want to play without so much as attacking a single person, you can do that as well. It may be more challenging that way, but it's possible.

Conclusion:
Overall, this is an amazing game. Don't come looking for a deep, thought-provoking story. This game doesn't have it. But what it does have is incredibly addictive gameplay with practically endless possibilities and a plot that's simple enough to keep your interest along the way. This is one of those games where once you beat it, you likely won't stop playing it for a while. It's a fun sandbox to run around in aimlessly while you watch your favorite TV show or listen to your favorite podcast. If you're offended easily, this game may not be for you. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend it. This may very well be my favorite FPS game of all-time and if it isn't, it's definitely up there.
