A dark and twisted love-letter to EGA-era Ultima and SSI Gold Box games. Played straight, the game is brutal and unforgiving but there are many Quality of Life improvements that allow for a really nice granularity to difficulty, allowing you customize the game to how you'd like to play.

Anyway, the game is great and the story embraces a fine melding of fantasy and cosmic horror. Be prepared for horrific situations, gory visuals, and lots of despair. But it's all worth it. One of the rare games I finished quickly because I couldn't stop.

I played the majority on the Steam deck and...the controls are a bit wonky but once you get used to it it won't be too bad.

The closest to my ideal post-zombie apocalypse game. Equal parts action, role-playing, base-building, and exploration.

A major wish would be that you could slowly reclaim the entire map, setting up multiple bases or forming alliances with other enclaves.

Early Access Review
I have 135 hours in the Early Access and cannot wait for full release. Yes. It is good.

The game is one of the greatest tactical turn-based games ever made. Nearly perfect (even with the hilarious animations when you "miss" at 94% accuracy). Patience, smart planning, and understanding line-of-site and how enemies react is almost always rewarded (90% of the time, heh).

The new 2K launcher, however, can go jump in a wood chipper.

I had no idea what to expect when starting a Yakuza game other than all my friends praising it. I initially couldn't get into it, thinking it was a Japanese-style GTA but with more flare. I was dead wrong.

It's an RPG with a 3rd-person action fight mechanic (like Shenmue!) and it's glorious. Highlights:

+ Amazing voice acting
+ Fantastic and ridiculous story with plenty of twists and turns
+ Tons of extra content that fleshes out the world and characters
+ Dialog can be touching, can be serious and dramatic, or can be hilarious. It is able to balance all of these, making the game truly enjoyable
+ The Hostess Management Sim should be its own game!

A few things that bug me though:

- lots of random encounters with thugs
- GRIND
- Sometimes the way the game forces you to interact with the world is very un-user friendly. Example: going in to stores FIXES your camera and you must navigate to the teller and interact with them in order to buy/sell things. Every. Time. These add up because you end up doing this THOUSANDS of times.
- Unbalanced boss fights. Just...save and get lucky. They're fun...the first few times.

Kinda good/bad depending on your individual tastes:

+/- 100+ hours of content (which, for a completionist like me, just...it's very long)

Anyway, I'm excited to continue on this series with Kiwami 1+2 though I might take a detour and play "Like A Dragon" after I finish this prequel.

Brilliant! Jumping puzzles aside (and they generally weren't that bad), this is the definitive version of Half-Life now. Crowbar Collective have made one of the best FPS games of all time even better. Updated, modernized, and gorgeous - even on the ancient Source engine!

A few things drag on (Interloper for instance) but I couldn't stop playing it. The best part is that it brings back the feeling of playing Half-Life for the first time! It plays how I REMEMBER Half-Life was. Awesome.

One of the most innovative narrative RPGs I've ever played. Fantastic use of system, story, and dialog. Great visual style as well!

I was a huge fan of Halcyon 6 despite the grind and pace. Lightspeed Edition keeps everything that's great about the first game and really mitigates the tedium, adding a few new features that take it from good to great. This time I went through the entire campaign without playing any others (about 15 hours) and had an absolute blast!

Will I return? You bet! The combination of base-building, strategic combat, and exploration is well balanced and lots of fun. Sure I might like a bit more detail and depth but I think that might ruin the core of what makes Halcyon 6 easy to pick-up and play.

Highly recommend the Lightspeed Edition!

Absolutely brilliant. Also maddeningly difficult at times - just the way it ought to be!
