As an Alpha Destiny player, Destiny 2 started off like the developers had amnesia. Changed EVERYTHING that was good in Destiny 1 and went with the liberal "everyone can win" approach.

On top of that, my turning point with Bungie and Destiny 2 was when they started vaulting PAID FOR CONTENT. I've paid almost $400+ in DLC content, most of which I cannot play today. This is criminal and I wish someone would legally go after Bungie. It's like you ordered food, took a bite and they take your dish away assuming you're done. You paid for the whole meal but only got a portion of it.

Raids, Dungeons and harder content has the best weapons, shaders, exotics and content in general. If you're a solo player and don't have online friends, avoid this game. This isnt a solo experience although they currently added a built-in LFG system, which 90% of the people kick you unless you're using THE EXACT LOADOUT they want you to.

Please stay away from Destiny 2 if you haven't played it already. It's a shell of what it used to be although the content is fruitful, I've played the same Strikes for almost 7 years now. They ignore their core content for the sake of Microtransactions in the store. It's like "Here, have this insane looking armor for $20 a set, and take it into the same strikes you've played since release.

The DLC's have gotten worse, probably because of the WOKE culture. You could've focused on great content everyone can enjoy, yet you focus on creating a transgender character that 2% of the population can resonate with.


UPDATE 7/14/24 - I recommend Destiny 2 because of the experience I've had personally. I've met great friends through LFG in Destiny 1, who I still game with today. I've completed Day 1 raids, discovered hidden exotic fragments to build an exotic weapon and fought some really dope raid boss fights. It's impossible to not recommend the game currently just based off personal nostalgia, but the core of Destiny was built around FOMO. Most new players will never experience the once in a lifetime, cabal ship crashing into the tower style experiences, LIVE.

I corrected my review because of this. Personally, it's my favorite game of all time. But I feel like you needed to be there, in the moment.

-Update
After tinkering with settings and turning on/off certain settings, the game crashes still but much less.

-Amazing graphics and detail.
-Addicting upgrade system and simple.
-Abilities and airstrikes are satisfying. Never gets old when the shell of an arachnid gets torn from the flesh.
-Straight Destiny universe vibes. I love it.

This is the game that started it all. Led me to being the FPS behemoth I am today.

I never write game reviews, but I had to here.

Destiny and Destiny 2 has taken well over 4-5 thousand hours of my life over a 10 year span. I've never felt this disappointed my an expansion and it's build up with literally ZERO climax. We just lost a war, but here we are, upgraded tower and the same freedom and capabilities we've had before we "lost".

I really don't know if the writers are the same every expansion, but please use the writers from Taken King, Forsaken and Witch Queen. We need writers who know Destiny, but I fear some of the writers shown in the vi-doc have NO CLUE about the franchise and the past. There's no other way the most anticipated DLC in Franchise history dropped the ball this bad.

The overall gameplay is destiny. A lot of great sandbox updates, UI changes and other quality of life changes. But damn, this story felt forced and awful. Maybe lets not worry about pushing a non-binary character in Nimbus and focus on making an actual good story. So disappointed. F!!!!!

Which more AAA titles put this much time and effort into questing, exploration and secrets.

And the combat system is rewarding.

Strictly multiplayer ranked experience is toxic and a horrible solo experience. Good player? Hope you enjoy getting STOMPED by 4 man teams and good ole matchmaking giving you 3 misfits who can't tell left from right.

Solo competitive players, avoid the MP.
