Review edited following Sony retracting the requirement of linking PSN.

It's an amazing game by an extraordinary studio that listens to fans and works hard to provide a truly unique and satisfying gameplay experience. If you haven't played yet, you're seriously missing out.

Great game. Combat is fun, challenging, and rewarding when you manage to play well. Lots of abilities that can make every fight different, and give you infinite choices on how to approach an encounter. You also aren't forced to choose if you want to specialize in stealth, combat, or ranged. You can do all of it, and are encouraged to do so!

Side quests aren't the most fun you'll have in the game, but they don't feel monotonous thanks to the optional challenges and varied objectives. At the very least the combat system is so good that you won't care if you spend hours doing the same thing over and over again. Seriously, I spent the better part of an hour in an Uruk Stronghold doing nothing but fighting everyone, and loved every minute of it.

At this time I haven't gotten very far into the story, but from what I can tell the basis is great. Being someone that is only vaguely familiar with LotR lore, I don't feel lost or confused (yet) due to references to other media. The protagonist is a badass, and you certainly feel like one while playing. The atmosphere and setting are very immersive, and suit the narrative extremely well.

The game also features frequent "mini-boss fights" in the form of Captains and Warchiefs and uses a system called "Sauron's Army". The system is kind of hard to explain, and would take a lot of time to type it all out, so I'll just say this: Boss encounters are fun and each one is different. You have to adapt and sometimes even find ways to get information about the bosses before you fight them, or pay the price for going into the fight knowing nothing about his strengths and weaknesses.

I could go on and on, but to conclude... You can't go wrong buying this game. I got it on sale, but I would've gladly paid a full $60.

10/10

Edit: They fixed it and is fun now 10/10

Same as what everyone says:

Pros:
=Great first few hours

Cons:
=Tedious
=Repetitive
=Boring
=Lots of promises from the developer that were not kept
=Very clear the game is unfinished in multiple areas
=Bugs are common and sometimes frustrating as they can sometimes hinder gameplay

Worst $60 I've ever spent. If nothing else, I learned a lesson. Never trust overhyped titles until there are enough gameplay videos by people with no prior loyalty to the developer. Seriously, unless this game is developed further or the price drops to 1/4 of what it is now, DO NOT BUY!
