I don't do MMO's. This game has had me addicted for multiple days straight.

Graphically very pretty, Audio is done extremely well. Quests can be a bit repetitive (though pretty common for this type of game).

I'm really enjoying it, great with friends. I'm pretty confident they'll sort out server queues as the player base settles.

Initial reaction on ~1.5hr play:

No bugs as yet (got to the first seemingly natural breakpoint - After sleeping at the apartment - before having to stop, silly launches on work nights...) Throwing the mouse around to try and get textures to glitch (after seeing complaints from reviewers) and haven't seen any yet.

Hacking felt a little unintuitive but the tutorial is clear - would recommend taking your time through the tutorials (though could also be post-midnight brain).
Felt better on KB+Mouse then Controller for me (Aiming/shooting is much harder, as you'd expect) though driving is easier on a controller.

Colourblind settings are a welcome inclusion.

My rig is getting on (i7-7700k + EVGA 1080 FTW driver 457.51 - NOT the GameReady driver) - plays surprisingly smoothly- Quick Preset of Ultra, Textures on High - Would recommend turning down motion blur, obviously. I thought i'd have to upgrade to enjoy but it looks and plays really well.

So - i don't normally do "long" reviews, but i think this needs one.
Yes, I'd recommend this game to those who played the original, I probably wouldn't recommend it to new players in it's current form

The Bad
- Pathing is "true to the original" - which is a shame because pathing sucks in the original, some examples..
-- Group of 10 tanks selected and groups - you select the group and tell them to move/attack ~30% do what you ask, the 2nd sit there doing nothing. painful when you're swarming enemy troops.
-- If you're on an island with a bridge, the units will follow the coast of the island before "finding" the bridge, some units will drive the wrong way until they can't go any further before turning round and going the correct way.
--Some groups require multiple clicks to tell them what to do accurately.
--Submarines(RA) are terrible. Will fire into an island/each other rather than at the unit you selected, requires micromanagement. (recommend sending "scatter" - default X before firing on enemy)

-Cutscenes are "eh", I appreciate it's probably the best quality they could get out of the originals, but it's a little jarring. (Note: this is JUST for RA - the Original game cutscenes are insane!)
-A group of engineers taking over a building will stop when the colour flips, with 0 health. you have to micromanage adding an additional engineer (even if you initially sent it) as the engineer will walk away from the building (Don't remember if this is true to the original, i thought they "took over" with a ~red amount of health, not 1hp)

The Good
-Nostalgia in a bottle.
-Game play is silky smooth, runs very nice
-Campaign is nice to play, interface allows you to go back and complete missions you didn't select.
-Really Enjoyable RTS
-Isn't that expensive considering the content
-Really easy to lose track of time whilst playing.

Notes
NB. Currently untested Multiplayer, I've been working my way through the campaigns within RA.

I'd still recommend the game to most people, however those that aren't great on micromanagement, or aren't used to the Janky-ness of some of the original game, i'd wait to see if anything gets adjusted.

I really hope EA push through and do some more of the early series. Remastered TibSun & RA2 would be a great follow up.

Amazing. DE makes AOE2 so much more playable, so many little tweaks make the game much more enjoyable even over HD.

The new animations are a beautiful touch, and the game feels well optimised even on huge maps (HD would stutter in LAN multiplayer on the largest map)

The game has improved significantly since I last played. It's enjoyable (though the story arch is pretty weak / too obvious of the campaign) but it's a very nice "modern" replacement for DK2.

Some little annoyances should have been fixed. Playing on Ryzen 5800x and 3090 and occasionally get stuttering when finishing missions etc. shame as it kind of detracts from the experience.

So my original V1 review was this... they released the game to "v1" without finishing off their EA pledges. a big no no for me as an EA backer.

This game should not be "released". It's far from complete and doesn't deserve to be released, looks like a desperate cash-grab as i'm guessing sales have dulled off.

Hopefully the developer doesn't abandon it before it's actually usable.

Get KeeperFX and DK1 instead. It's less buggy.

Excellent bit of fun! :)
Short however, and has a very occassionaly Crash To Desktop issue.

If its on offer (<£2/3) its definitely a good timewaster of 2/3 hours :)

A nice little indie game. Frustratingly difficult at times! Well worth the monies :)
