Q&A:

- Are you producing some new stuff?
Always producing new stuff! Sometimes I take extended breaks because of business, lack of ideas, studies or other issues, but generally I'm always working on new song ideas and so forth. I'd like to expand myself beyond the Gaben-TF2 realm though, maybe going back to mashups, do club music or DJ. So be prepared for other stuff some time!

- What programs do you use?
I work mainly with Logic Pro and more of the older tracks with Reason. My machine is a four year old MacBook Pro with 4 gigabytes of ram. Synthesizers is a Novation Nova (used a lot in the Red Alert 2 soundtrack), a Roland SH-201 and a Microkorg XL. I'm mostly proud though of my years' worth of samples that I've been collecting. Whenever I hear a sound that I like, I always try to track it down. I've got photographic-memory for sound.

- Have you ever been contacted by Valve or Gabe?
Never personally by anyone. Of course I assume someone at Valve's heard my songs. A friend once emailed Gabe about my music, so maybe he's heard it at one point. Never had any email exchanges or anything with them though. I don't feel entitled to anything from them beyond the cool games they make.

- Have you ever been contacted by Lil Jon or Stephanie from LazyTown?
Lil Jon contacted me and HatPerson through his agent once, so we did the Bananphone mashup for him. Got invited to L.A. for a meeting with them but called it off cause I had mid-term exams (WHY DID I SAY NO??). Regarding Stephanie, aka Julianna Rose Mauriello, I've read was deeply disturbed by the mashup and got teased by it from her classmates. Apparantly she hates it, whereas Lil Jon thought it was spectacularly funny. If it wasn't creepy to contact Julianna about the mashup, I'd do it and tell her I'm sorry for the pain it cause her. I'm a very apologetic, guilt-ridden person.

- Why haven't you signed a record contract or something like that? Why aren't you on Beatport, iTunes or Spotify?
I'm not a composer. I'm a joke producer that hardly create my own songs. I'm not in the same league as those who start their music by sitting in front of a piano. I wouldn't know how to write a song from scratch if I didn't have a sample or drum loop to start with. I just happen to be a nerd who sits in front of the computer and create something that springs from a stupid idea. Music is something I mainly do it for my own entertainment and if other people enjoy it as much as I do, then that's even better. Maybe at one time I can really settle down and create my own studio and work my ass off at making great tracks, but that's only a distant dream right now...
