It's really fun game and has a lot of content considering the price. It's like if Grand Theft Auto 2 had a baby with the original Postal. It really is tons of fun and even for full price it's worth every penny. It sucks that it doesn't seem to have a developer anymore so it doesn't look like we're going get any more content. With that being said, its still worth every penny at full price and I've really enjoyed this game.

WARNING this game has a 60 FPS lock and no plans to change that any time soon! If I didn't buy it from Green Man Gaming this would have been refunded already. If you get queasy to fps under 90 like I do I would avoid this game entirely. Hell, even if it doesn't affect you at all in principle it should be illegal to put out a PC game in 2025 with a 60 fps cap.

The developer says the 60 fps cap is an an internal restriction of the engine but it's only because they're using an ancient version of the dhewm3 source port mod of the original Doom 3 engine - they're using 2016-06-18 dhewm3 1.4.1 instead of 2024-08-03 dhewm3 1.5.4. If they used the latest version they would easily be able to support at least 120 fps as the community has worked on that specifically over the years.

I'm sure the game is great but it is going to be hard for me to know for sure as I can't play more than like 20 mins at a time at 60 fps before my stomach starts to feel queasy. At the very least they could add in frame generation so even though we would still have the terrible input latency of 60 FPS we wouldn't have the stomach churning slideshow of 60 FPS.

I want this game to succeed so badly because clearly everything else about it is amazing and immersive sims are some of the best games out there. I hope the developer can sort out this issue so that I can recommend the game and have a chance at beating it.

Update1: I'm able to use lossless scaling frame generation 3.1 to make 60 FPS have the appearance of the fluidity of a 120 FPS which means I can now play the game for more than 20 minutes at a time without being queasy! IMHO there is no excuse for putting a game up in 2025 with the 60 FPS cap so it still gets this thumbs down from me until they rectify the situation but at least it's playable and other than the egregious frame cap it is one hell of a fun game if you like immersive simulations.

This game is top notch couch co-op fun. If you're looking for an excellent couch co-op game to play this should fit the bill perfectly no matter who you are or what games you like. I enjoyed every second with this game playing it through with a buddy.

It's definitely worth every penny at full price!

I played postal one when it first came out and it was amazing. I plaid postal 2 to completion even though it was a wonky jank fest it was tons of fun and kept me engaged. I definitely regret buying this an early access to help fund the game and there is nothing in the first couple hours that makes me want to continue playing - sad..

This game sucks and it looks like it's always going to suck. It's unfortunate because the postal IP has so much potential but none of that potential has been realised here. Short of an engine upgrade and a complete rehaul of almost every aspect of the game I would say that this is generally a failed project, people shouldn't buy it, and the developers should move on to postal 5 and hopefully earn from their colossal failure. Either pretty much restart making this game from scratch and have it in everything but name postal 5 to make up for us paying for such a crappy game or move on to postal 5 and give us suckers that bought this game a significant discount when it comes out. I will definitely not be supporting any game from running with scissors and early access anymore.

The best postal game is from Hyperstrange called Postal Brain Damaged which is a boomer shooter and not an open world havoc simulator like the postal IP is known for but it is the best postal game currently and I highly suggest that you play it if you are into boomer shooters.

Running with Scissors, you have completely lost the ability to make a decent postal game and that really sucks.

Do not buy, do not play, and do not ever think about this game ever again.

If you miss command and conquer this is command and conquer 2025. It definitely needs some balancing and a heck of a lot more multiplayer maps but the core is there and it's solid.

They need to release a map editor and mod tools so that this game retains players and is able to have some longevity. I really hope the developers understand that making a map editor and mod tools actually sells more copies and more dlc down the line by capturing and holding a larger player base for longer.

To the developers I say don't be idiots and do it electronic arts style locking the game down without a map editor and mod tools in order to try and sell more DLC - we know that does the exact opposite. Give us the tools to make endless content and you will make more money in the end as this game will live on for so much longer.

TL;DR It's worth every cent at full price if you like turn based combat JRPGs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I pirated this game and about six hours into it I realised that this is probably not only the game of the year but could be a contender for one of the best games of all time. I almost never buy games close to release because I'm a patient gamer and like to play games after they've been patched up and content complete (post release updates and paid DLC) and are on a good sale. This is one of those rare gems that deserves paying full price to be supported as much as possible as these developers have clearly made this game with passion and every aspect of it exudes excellence. The last few games I bought for full price close to release in order to support the devs were Baldur's Gate 3, Prey (2017), and The Witcher 3 so you know that games have to be really good for me to buy for full price so close to release.

Since I'm still in the early game I'm not going to comment about the engaging systems, fantastic aesthetics, and gripping story at the moment and all I really have to say is that if you like turn based combat JRPGs then you have to buy this and play it ASAP.

Don't listen to the haters whining about that it's imbalanced and too hard. Just expect the first couple of rounds that you play to get absolutely annihilated by the boss and then once you understand what you're supposed to be doing and unlock a few more things it's pretty easy to win almost every single time at any difficulty.

It's a really fun tower defence game with a ton of variety which means that it has serious replayability.

Updated opinion:

Screw this Paradox enshittification DLC model. Such a good game mired by tiny bits of expensive DLC. It's just so frustrating enjoying a Paradox published game because the predatory DLC model that they push is the epitome of everything that is wrong with modern corporate gaming business models. I just don't know anymore... I want to buy the new DLC because this game is great but that only encourages this greed driven DLC policy behaviour so I'm trying my best to hold off. Great game but I had to change the thumbs up to a thumbs down because of this Paradox DLC crap.

Original review:

Scumbag Paradox interactive DLC business model aside this is an absolute blast of the game to play in co-op with a buddy. We're 60 hours in and I feel like we're just getting started. I have a feeling this is one of those games that I'll have a couple hundred hours in before I'm bored of it.

Definitely only buy the game and the DLC on a sale as the prices are absolutely ridiculous if you want to get the whole package.

If you like turn based deck builders this is about as good as it gets - especially if you're interested in playing co-op.
