This game is a fairly by-the-numbers old-school metroidvania, but it has it's charms. It's pretty fun, if you keep your expectations in check.

You start the game with a weak, short-range weapon and very limited movement capabilities. Like any good metroidvania, you're soon fed a steady diet of upgrades. This really kept me addicted to the game. Far too many games in this genre have you playing for an hour before you get your first minor upgrade.


Pros:

* Addictive gameplay
* Lots of upgrades
* Challenging gameplay (at the beginning)
* Secrets encourage exploration
* After acquiring the necessary mobility upgrades, moving around the world is quite fun
* Attractive retro graphics
* Boss fights are fun without being too difficult
* Gameplay is a blend of the original Metroid and Mega-Man

Cons:

* I ran into a few bugs, but nothing too serious
* It can be difficult to tell where you need to go next
* The game can be a little frustrating when playing on normal, until you get some health upgrades
