Old-school FPS fun in the best possible way. The guns are meaty, the enemies are daemonic, and the setting is grim. You really do feel like an elite captain of the Adeptus Astartes, huge and powerful but agile in a way only a genetically-enhanced superbeing could be.

Minor complaints would be level design that needs a lot of backtracking (less obvious path than in many modern shooters) and finding power-ups after an arena fight has ended far too often, but both of those are subjective.

Highly recommended for any single-player FPS fan. Required playing, in fact.

The 2nd best puzzle game ever made, surpassed only by its sequel.

Dripping (literally) with atmosphere, a fantastic setting / premise, and a sense of dread that I've rarely had outside of the Frictional games. It also doesn't overstay its welcome (normalise short-form content, not everything has to be 60 hours!) and much more time with its navigation mechanic might have become tedious, but that's not the case.

I'm not a natural thalassophobe, but I see where they're coming from.

This is, quite simply, the best horror game ever made. The oppressive atmosphere, the existential dread it evokes. It has little in the way of jump scares, but its simple mechanics and enthralling, otherworldly story will have you replaying it.

A cinematic experience with unique twists, with strong emotional notes. It's a short game - which to me is very refreshing; sometimes I want just an experience. I'll recommend this for years.

A superb blend of everything Frictional has learned over their catalogue of games. And for lore nuts like me, it fills in many of the gaps left by Dark Descent, if you like to read the notes. Highly recommended.

Before DOOM 2016, my favourite game of all time was Final Fantasy VII. It took near perfection of FPS mechanics to rend FFVII from the top spot.

Early Access Review
A game of remarkable depth. It's difficult to find an exact genre to fit this game into (which is a good thing). It feels in part like the Sims, in part like an RTS and in part like a simulation. But it's greater than the sum of its parts. It's in early access so there's more to come - and I eagerly await it.
