Early Access Review
This review was made immediately before refunding the game, after playing on an alternate Family Share account, then I played on my main account for 5 minutes in order to make a Steam Review, and the entire experience of the game was streamed onto YouTube up until then.

Keep in mind, this was $39.99, on Launch Day, December 7, 2023, and the game IS in Early Access.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The game was not quite the dream Open World, Survival, DayZ type Zombie Apocalypse MMO as it was shown as being, graphically or gameplay wise, in any trailers or gameplay demos.

Not now anyway, and we'll see about if it ever will be.

I've heard about performance problems from others on High End PC's, and had a couple of hitches myself, but overall even with DLSS off it wasn't too bad, the menu's were incredibly laggy and slow and low framerate until an update after around 6PM EST fixed some bugs and the menu lag.

Servers were all FULL and it took MANY attempts to join, with the amount of others trying the game, few game servers run by FNTASTIC, kept getting dropped out, when I got in, had the infamous Inventory Wipe and Unable to Exit Tutorial Room bug and had to restart my character and wait for a server again before I could finally play.

I played for 1.3 hours on an alternate account I have through Steam Family Share.

Not quite an MMO, though I understand some references to The Division, the way Multiplayer works, with Squads for friends. This game definitely was actually designed to be more of an extraction shooter mixed with Division's Dark Zone.

The game wasn't fun or rewarding, zombies were buggy and slow and glitchy, tied to the server and not dangerous or a threat at all, just like my issues with DayZ, with bad tracking and awful AI and the ping seemed to be really bad. Gunplay was okay, and the looking at loot sections didn't seem to register very well, and there wasn't as many interaction areas as you'd think.

The one instance of PVP I ran into was sudden, and buggy, not sure if I even legitimately killed the other person, but was able to loot them and later successfully extract back to Woodberry with 3 zombies chasing me and no ammunition.

The Camping type Plot of Land base system seemed extremely limited, except to furnishing the place a bit, and the menu's kind of foreshadow a later Cosmetic Micro-Transaction DLC type base system in the future. Character customization was extremely limited compared to a lot of other games.

Overall, hopefully extreme measures are taken to adjust the game to be more as advertised, or at least refined in a way that gives purpose for playing THIS game over others, other then mindless, laggy, and simple looting and shooting in an extraction area with a few zombies, and some other players.

I do not recommend this game in its current state, unless a wicked low sale of 10$ or so comes up, to have for the future, just in case.

SteamVR works great, incredibly simple to run VR Games through it, only issue so far that I've encountered is a bug where sometimes when I go to update SteamVR, the update will stop and start the download/install repeatedly by itself, and takes many hours to update, which is odd considering how small the file size typically is.

Overall, great experience, don't forget to install Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR alongside this if using WMR.

"King of the Kill Roots"
What are you talking about?
You went from a decent alternative to DayZ with the original H1Z1, and turned it into a Battle Royale, separated then destroyed your roots, and re-launched your game twice.

Fallout 2

My introduction to the Fallout world was Fallout 3, but it interested me so much that I wanted to find out as muhc as I could about the lore behind the game, and play the originals for myself to truly see how great the games are, and how far it's come from the original.

I was very pleasantly surprised.

Fallout 2 is a top down isometric turn based rpg.

The premise is very simple, years after the Vault Dweller founded Arroyo, his ancestor known only as The Chosen One, steps up to prove his worth to the Village, by overcoming the Trials, donning the Vault 13 Jumpsuit, and is sent out in search of some way to save the Villiage from famine with the Garden of Eden Creation Kit.

As far as Role Playing goes, this game is phenomenal. From metting and performing certain actions, requirements, helping people out or just plain being in the right place at the right time, you can meet a plethora of people willing to join you on your quests, each with their own personalities and styles, including the return of Dogmeat from one of the various well made Random encounters placed along the decently nice sized map of California.

From building your own cars, getting married, joining a New Reno mafia gang to exploring the Vaults, fending off Raiders, various Mutants and the Enclave, and making visits to the civilizations scattered around the wasteland, this game immerses you completely in the world, complete with iconic Cultural References and humor between the Developers and players.

This game is superior to Fallout by improving it in almost every way, and I have to say, as far as RPG's go this was my favorite game next to Fallout 3 (probably an unpopular opinion, considering I disliked F:NV)

I highly recommend digging deep into the Wiki's, and fully playing through this game from beginning to end
(and beyond for more content, and more of that Developer humor throughout the world after the end)
