Early Access Review
TL:DR, this is GREAT so far. Take the time to learn the controls, and the "feel" of flight, and it'll become second nature for a great experience.

So things start off a little clunky, since I grew up with TIE-Fighter, and never had to deal with the Empire's greatest enemy: Gravity. Playing around in the training mission, things start to click. Take it slow, learn about my weapon types, the best way to maneuver my multi-million dollar death machine (the 3 key will bring your throttle to half, which allows you to hover, good for lining up shots). And I hit the V key, missiles, awesome. Hit the C key, and you get a homing missile, that locks onto enemies, and gives you a chase-cam as your hellfire ordinance lands straight on top of whatever enemy of Freedom you locked onto. That has yet to get old.

So I'm feeling confident. I hop into the campaign mission, and get the lay of the land Take out a few patrols near the beach, and try to pick up some combatants with the ladder. Immediately crash. Try again, and getting close to the drop-off point...crash into the ocean. Ok, important lesson two, TRUST your Altimeter, since your chopper's gonna be leaning forward while flying, which takes some getting used to if you're more familiar with traditional plane-based games. Also, switch between cockpit views to help you navigate low-level objectives.

So I'm down two helicopters, but the rest of the mission goes smoothly. Take out a radio tower, liberate an airfield, and lose another copter to a SAM site. Down to my last life, things feel tense. I clear out the last of the missile launchers (which launch their payload and explode into multiple directions when you nail them, also never gets old), remember to use my flares while taking out a convoy on the way back, then re-engage with my greatest enemy...Landing. I remember what I've learned, what I've been taught, and approach the destroyer carefully. Low, steady, trusting my equipment. Nail the landing, and everything feels *amazing*.

This was one mission, it took about an hour to get the hang of everything, and I loved every minute. I can't wait for more!
