What a unique little gem, if flawed. A language translation game like Heaven's Vault or Chants of Sennaar but much shorter. A few changes or additions could have made this really quite something! as it is it's still very interesting but rough around the edges, especially near the end.

You wake up with total amnesia and a pretty lady tending to you, you don't know who or where you are and can't even understand her language, but you're determined to learn what you can.

Progression felt solid with one exception, it's got a lot of charm and intrigue. I had fun, I did tear up, would recommend with the caveat that it's a little unfinished. Keep expectations gentle.

My thoughts on spoilerous things:

Translating the language was fun but there was not enough context or reason to learn like 80% of the words, it helped you feel like progress was being made but really more should have come from it.

I'm unsure if you're meant to end up working out how to decrypt it manually, it feels like there's no way to understand the final pieces without doing so. Until I started doing this, I was hard stuck. I love that you *can* do it, but it's a bit strange that it feels like you have to.

Some of the translations don't work, letters are missing from a couple, one word is cut in half!

The lock box puzzle didn't feel like a puzzle, I don't know how I messed up trying the correct answer since it was one of the first things I tried but after that I had all these complicated ideas of how to figure out the code, only to try the obvious again and just get in.. so there wasn't a reason to puzzle things out, the clues on the box weren't helpful at all for it? Bizzare.

More interaction is needed, especially after making a certain discovery, better yet making that discovery after it has been put to use, should really result in some longer dialogue or *something*... but instead we carry on as normal?

The choice tree should be much earlier, both narratively and for gameplay, she should ask you something the moment you wake up, not at the end! Hunting down the "multiple endings" meant a lot of starting a new game, doing one thing then sleeping for a week. If I hadn't been told there were multiple endings, I would never have found them. Even finding them, the difference between a few is like a single word.

It's neat that you can translate the newspapers by hand if you want but something pretty important is included in one so it's weird you're not prompted to read it!

Ultimately I wanted more, I love the story as is but I'm left with unanswered questions and a lot of early intrigue left hanging. It really felt like choices and understanding should make big changes, it literally says it can be a short or long story. So I'm expecting everything to flip on its head, or for the story to change once you are capable of conversation, or a whole side story of doubting her identity and trying to escape, but actually nothing changes except for some very final last minute options.

Finally, the note at the very 'true' end.. ???

Mindless fun, it's exactly what it wants to be

I was really into this game, I was playing for hours on end without realising it, a lot of that came because of the promise of more, cleverer puzzles, more things hiding in plain sight, deeper lore that would all unlock as I kept going.

But the combat is a chore, aimed at a souls-like audience, and the final puzzle and ending were so poorly crafted and such a letdown that it retroactively hurt my enjoyment of everything I'd played up until then. I expected much, much better.

I hate precision platformers, but somehow I managed through this and was closer to 100% than I'd ever have thought before I hit my limit

It's a solid game, the story is decent, it's challenging without being entirely unfair, and at least up until what is sort of what I'd call newgame+ content, there aren't any horrific mechanics to master.

Think monopoly meets mario party, it's a cutesy and verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slow turn-based board game type of affair designed to be universally unfair and ridiculous at all times.

Best played with friends - works well with remoteplay so only one copy needed between your group - but they may not stay friends for long. You'll need many sessions to finish the story, nothing in this game goes quickly, and it's best to all go in blind so you can discover the mechanics as you all play.

If you're of that kinda mindset to play a game you all know you're going to struggle with, and you are going to have to do some backstabbing, then this is a fun adventure to suffer through together, and it has some great character designs.

If you're not then this is likely to be a miserable hell to play.

I hate gambling with a passion and not even a fan of roguelikes but this is one of those deceptively engrossing numbers-go-whee kinda games.

The poker aesthetic is just that, an aesthetic, the second you play more than one round, things are thoroughly off-road from there,

Surprisingly funny and fun, not my usual type of game but it has a lot of charm and a gentle difficulty curve with optional challenges the entire way

Visually great, the writing is strong, the whole breaching thing starts off feeling a bit corny but by the end is just great, especially as new characters show up and have their own twists on doing it.

Mechanics are varied and interesting and they tell a good story through them which was unexpected.

Really enjoyed the original, only in the early parts of this but it's already an improvement!

If you enjoy absolutely terrifying fun and innocent denpa datesims this should be next on your list

Mita would love to meet you.

This was made by a two person team?! The quality and polish is insane for that. I expected a janky supermarket-simulator-esque experience but got way, way more that that. This game pays homage to a huge mix of styles and genres while being a solid experience throughout, it's clearly an absolute labour of love for both this kind of genre, and gaming as a whole.

Highly recommended.
