Wonderful concept. Atrocious game.
Probably one if not the worst RTS/Tactical RTS games i've ever played in my entire life.

Everything you've read in the bad reviews, unfortunately, it's true.
I am winning my campaing, that's the worst part. When it comes to the global map, it's pretty much about taking down the morale of the enemy nation. Stick to that plan, and you'll be fine... but if you want to fight... this is simply not a fun game.

The whole "cheating IA" is, sadly, extremely true. The enemy has trillions of supplies and gold, this means you'll be fighting 3 times the manpower you have, regardless of the difficulty. Ofc, they'll unlock everything they need as fast as possible, no matter how ilogic it sounds. If the enemy needs an upgrade, it'll have it next turn. It essentially unlocks several technologies at the same time, giving the player a massive disadvantage.
Combat on the other hand, it's not about tactics, but mainly supplies. Supplies are essential, but your opponent will run out of these only on the early game, after a few turns, you'll notice the enemy can deploy MASSIVE trench networks, planes, ballons, tanks, artillery and my god... Infantry, TONS AND TONS of infantry... I'm not talking about ten units, i'm talking about more than 30 units minimum in battle and at the same time (the limit is actually 30... but aparently only for the player.)

Now, you might think this is easily counter reacted. Well, let me tell you why this game is so criticized.

Essentially, in a good scenario, early and mid game, you'll have between 1400 and over or more than 2000 supplies in battlefield. This can buy 30 units of infantry, some tanks, at least 4 o 6 artillery units, 1 o 2 ballons and set a trench-network. And lets say, maybe you can add a few more things like tanks and siege artillery. Also, as you start, you'll get a few more resources, useful for buying a littly more infantry or using artillery in battle. Great! Right? Welp... here is the thing. Everything you just got, the enemy will have twice or three times the ammount. Simple as that. Oh! You deployed 30 units to defend/attack? The enemy will deploy constantly and have 30 or more (the player can't have more than 30) units to defend. Oh? You are under attack? The enemy will deploy 60 units plus anything they need. What's that? You are defending a line? The enemy will move immediatly to your location with mass force, barely taking casualties, using artillery, spawing new waves and having them autoaim at any unit they "see".
The IA can build, spawn and bombard as if it had 9000 supplies, wich makes absolutely NO SENSE.
Now, if you are attacking, the enemy will do pretty much the same, but on the defense. A single soldier can exterminate an entire company from a mile. And taking an entire sector will cost thousands and thousands and thousands of supplies.
Now... my main issue is not the IA tactics... it's the fact that they input-read and suffer no substraction of resources.
You simply can't make an opponent spawn infinitely, while bombarding and having bougth 10 planes and 10 tanks... on a 2 star region, 10 turns after the game starts. It's unfair.

And if you think that's unfair... let's just say there is a timer for battles. Yes, A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 20 Minutes timer. Ridiculous is an understatement. I've been on the brink of winning Great Victories several time, but bc of a single second, it was lost, making the entire effory, pointless.

Just dont't buy game yet. It looks great yeah! But the experience is one of the worst things i've seen ever.

This game is such a dissapointment.
It's too fast for a Stalker experience and you just die before even progressing. Even if u manage to win against the AI, drops are almost unexistent excepting ammo. Plus, it's essentially a CoD like PvP mainly. Such a let down, i was hoping to finally play S.T.A.L.K.E.R with the boys but the community is extremely abusive.

I can def. see the improvement. Guys, keep it up. Change those zombies please... even Anomaly being many years old has better monsters.
I hope we can get to see the creepy side of the game soon, but so far, the very first map itself has changed to an unrecongnisable state... for good!
Keep it up! You have a gem on your hands.

This game can easily compete with Total War.
Given a World Map where you fight 1 brutal war instead of battle after battle, plus a good economic, political and diplomatic system would bring to shame.
Every battle is SO intense and each victory so satisfaying.
Legendary game, a pitty it doesn't have mods or mod support, cause the possibilities would be endless.
A must buy RTS game, even if u r not into american history, it is simply Fantastic!!!

Trust me, Frozengeim is a fantastic game.
The only thing i dare to say i find horrible is the unit skins and the way they bunch together.
If this "City Builder" formula was mixed with Ancestors: Legacy combat mechanics, visuals and accuracy, it'd be simply perfect.
When it comes to city building, it's a GREAT game, specially considering how big the maps are, but when it comes to war and it's AI, it is pretty bad.
Dev's should DEFINITELY focus on this last aspect. Regardless, i really recommend it!

Great concept, somehow, even profetical xD but in all seriousness... one of the most boring and frustrating games i ever played in my life.

Gameplay... It is slow, no doubt, but that's not the problem itself. It's just that it suffers from the same mistake every single game like this makes... getting killed by enemies before you even have an idea of what is going on. At one point I was able to kill 2 units max, before i lost 17 armored units + infantry, simply bc the enemy had artillery, info, tanks and infantry, which, btw, it was comparable to Sonic the hedgehog compared to mine. I am aware of fatige and scouts, but, even against a panicked, tired, low tier scout, the AI wil ALWAYS spot you, miles away, while you gotta essentially sacrifice your unit to learn where the enemy shoots you from (to then escape).
This applies specially on the use of infantry... there is no concept of stealth. To use an AT unit on an enemy's rear for example, it's an impossible idea, for the AI will automatically see you, pull the trigger, and if those poor bastards were lucky enough, they will be left crying on the ground till killed... and no, not kidding, it is literally what infantry does in this game. And yeah i get it, i get it... i know fighting a tank frontally is suicidal, but if u expect me to believe a mix of AT units, surrounding only 1 HUMVEE will be unable to destroy it, only to get butchered or scared off from all angles... then... no you lost me.

Mechanics... are quite simple to understand, specially if you are used to games with tons of hotkeys like ArmA for example... but this game simply kills you before you even get an idea of what the enemy throws at you, so be prepared to tap that keyboard like a Korean playing on a Starcraft tournement. Another problem is terrain and the engaging mechanics. You must pick unit per unit to command an attack, calculating distance, enemy weapon, dismounting coordination, terrain type, setting a Speed Order, etc, etc... Meanwhile...the AI avoids most of these factors, being speed MAYBE, the only thing that might stand before fast or slow extermination. Example: Enemies can shoot through high elevations, buildings or forests. YOU CAN NOT do this. If this is supposed to be called "tactical"... the no, you lost me there.

Graphically... well, I don't really mind. This game's budget did not focus on super detailed terrains, but IMO, having Operation Flashpoint CWC graphics in 2021 (tho tbf, this is older than 2021) is quite a let down. The units do look cool! But that's about it... Effects, trees, buildings, TERRAINS simply look... awful. And the map-borders? Unexistant. No, like, literally. There are no borders.
The UI f.e., does look "military" enough, but as i said previously, you gotta be used to combined hotkeys, otherwise, you'll be in hell.
Sound is the only thing that stands out... and this is the graphics "section"!

Conclusion: A pitty. A huge letdown. It has a fantastic concept. It slightly reminds me to ArmA2... but is EXTREMELY unfair and unbalanced, slow, boring and complicated... and i've played Wargame: Red Dragon...
Look, i am not telling you to rework the game, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, at least add a speed selector and be more fair to the player when it comes to recon, the units reaction and the UI. I am not expecting World In Conflict's simplicity, but if a game like Syrian Warfare has brutal combats, detail and easy commands, then i think the devs, could rework some stuff for better. Or well, one can dream.

Should you buy it? If you are hellish veteran from over complicated games like the "Wargame" series, Warno and so on, then yes. It is a massive downgrade but something new between the over-squeezed Cold War "Grand Scale Tactical" RTS games.

IF you came here looking for a battle between Ukraine and Russia, you'll probably loose, no matter your pick, so, yeah, stay far from this.

What a great little game! Specially done by one person, who probably had to pay for, mostly, music. What can i say, i absolutely loved it!
If the developer ever reads this... Well done! Very very well done! Loved it! It's simple and satisfying. Like those old flash games we use to play.
I hope u either develop more games focused on other regions or even start competing with total war from a minor scale, who knows! Lots of potential, no doubt!
A hug from Argentina to y'all. And Remember, Roma Victor.
And The Emperor Protects xD

Small little game made with love! It needs optimization and better animations no doubt, but the concept is there! Loved it!
