If you're someone that hasn't played a LEGO game in the past 10 years like myself this game will be a lot different than what your memory serves you, but it will still be an enjoyable experience. I played this game entirely co-op and am still in the process of going back to 100% the game so I will be speaking about my experience with the game playing co-op.

This game has a lot of bugs. Period. Now some aren't as bad as others, but still really annoying to have to deal with. A few that immediately come to mind that I ran into often were:
- Changing to random characters when entering a building in Free Play
- Characters freezing when using the force and talking to characters (only way I could fix is by restarting the level)
- Important mission characters disappearing off the face of the planet (literally)

I was not a fan of the menus upon menus you have to go through in order to find anything you are looking for. As someone who waiting until they were finished with the game to buy characters it took an extremely long time to go through and buy every single character, ship, etc that I had unlocked which wasn't many.

Lastly, some of the levels in this game were clearly not designed for co-op. Some levels Player 2 is stuck as a droid and literally can't do anything for most of the level. There are a few things they can do, but its only little character checks for bricks or mini kits.

The open world aspect of this game gives me the sense of freedom I've always wanted in a LEGO game. I love going into space and being able to LAND on an enemy ship and even buy it afterwards. Its an incredibly thrilling way to earn ships. The puzzles throughout the game are nice, not too hard and not too easy. Some might not be incredibly obvious but map markers can help steer you in the right direction which is nice.

I'm putting this at the bottom because in my opinion its very minor, but I find it out that they decided to remove 90% of the character deaths. This really killed the mood for a lot of cut scenes... which there are a lot of..

As someone who didn't have experience playing the original game from 2003, I had a lot of fun playing this game. I specifically enjoy being able to go wherever I want in a level rather than being guided the entire way through. Some levels (Kelp Forest) just have a vibe that don't make me as excited to play as the others. Difficulty wise, It wasn't a cakewalk, but wasn't hard in the slightest. There were some moments where I was lost on what to do, but nothing a little critical thinking and walking around couldn't figure out.

Overall a really good game. Would recommend to anyone looking for a casual game to play when they're bored or maybe just got home from work and want to relax like me.
