Dropped it back in a day after playing for about 2-3 hours. Wasn't even considering on revisiting, but somehow just ended up watching through the final credits

Story-wise it's more of a bad B-Movie tier. To the point where I can't even remember the names of the most of its characters. But the gameplay is really satisfying, although it may not seem so for the first few hours. And also huge respect for the environmental design, it really sparked my interest in exploring

Setting, visuals, and the occasional gameplay bits shown in it's trailers felt uninspiring, so I always put it off until later. In the end, I played it solely because of all the positive reviews stating that this is somewhat of a hidden gem, a masterpiece, one of the most solid Sony games, and you name it. And boy did I get dragged into the one of the most tedious gaming experiences of the last few years

It's an extremely mediocre game about riding here and there, hiding in the bushes, clearing outposts, and listening to the most generic dialog lines you can imagine. With all the other options to play out there, I don't know why you should bother trying out this one

For me this game falls into that category of titles you buy five years after release, only to play it another five years later out of sheer boredom. Gameplay is mediocre, and the coop offers zero interesting cooperative mechanics. A dubious pleasure unless you are having a massive 40K itch

update from 2025: judging by the amount of updates released, devs put a lot of efforts into making it better. Kudos for trying, I guess. However, most of DL2 problems are fundamental and doubtfully could be improved by mere fixes: dull combat, clunky parkour, copy-pasted environment, extremely uninteresting main story and side quests. It is obviously not a garbage-tier game, and you can get some decent amount of fun, but I'd recommend getting it only under heavy discount. It is inferior to the first part in every way possible
