This game is a rollercoaster of fun! From the engaging gameplay to the addictive mechanics, it's hard not to get hooked. However, there's a major downside: it's way too short. Just as you start getting into the groove, it's over before you know it. Additionally, some of the sounds can become repetitive, which can be a bit grating. Despite these flaws, it's still a game worth buying if you're looking for a good time.

Ah, nothing quite like the thrill of paying to lose, am I right? Welcome to the world of digital card games where your wallet is the only skill you need! Say goodbye to fair competition and hello to the joy of watching players with deeper pockets steamroll over you like a bulldozer over a sandcastle.
But hey, who needs balance and fairness when you can just swipe your credit card for that extra edge? It's not like strategy and skill should matter in a game, right? Who needs to outsmart opponents when you can just outspend them?
So if you're ready to embrace the exhilarating sensation of being outclassed by players with larger bank accounts, dive right in! Just don't forget your wallet. 2/10 - because why bother trying when you can just buy your way to victory?

Salt and Sanctuary: A Thrilling and Challenging Journey

Salt and Sanctuary is a 2D action RPG that seamlessly blends fast-paced combat with rich RPG mechanics. Set in a haunting and unforgiving world, the game challenges players to explore a cursed island filled with forgotten cities, blood-soaked dungeons, and grotesque creatures.

A Balancing Act of Difficulty and Enjoyment
The game's difficulty is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it provides a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when overcoming challenging obstacles. On the other hand, it can be frustrating at times, especially for those who prefer a more casual experience. However, the game's difficulty is well-balanced, never becoming so overwhelming that it makes the game unplayable.

Immersive Gameplay and Level Design
The game's lack of a traditional map initially seemed like a drawback, but it actually turned out to be a strength. The world is designed in a way that encourages exploration and discovery, and the absence of a map forces players to pay attention to their surroundings and create their own mental map of the island.

Bonfires and Upgrades: Room for Improvement
While the game excels in many aspects, there are a few areas where it could use some improvement. The bonfire system, which serves as the game's checkpoint mechanism, could be more clearly explained. Additionally, the limitations on upgrading equipment until later in the game can be frustrating for some players.

Boss Encounters: A Mixed Bag
The game's boss encounters are challenging and rewarding, but their placement throughout the game feels somewhat unbalanced. The most challenging bosses seem to be concentrated at the beginning and end of the game, leaving the middle portion feeling less intense.

Overall Recommendation: A Challenging Yet Rewarding Experience
Overall, Salt and Sanctuary is a challenging yet rewarding experience that will appeal to fans of action RPGs. Its immersive gameplay, well-designed world, and satisfying combat make it a game worth checking out. However, those who prefer a more casual gaming experience may want to proceed with caution.

Rating: 7.5/10
Recommended for: Players who enjoy challenging games, action RPGs, and exploration.

Frustratingly Obtuse and Unnecessarily Challenging

Blasphemous is a game that seems to revel in its own obscurity and difficulty, often at the expense of player enjoyment. While the game boasts stunning pixel art and a captivating atmosphere, it's marred by frustrating-level design, unclear objectives, and an excessive amount of backtracking.

From the outset, the game throws you into the depths of its unforgiving world without much explanation or guidance. The map, while aesthetically pleasing, lacks clarity and often leads to confusion and frustration. The game's reliance on cryptic clues and hidden paths makes it feel more like a punishment than a rewarding exploration.

The combat system, while initially engaging, quickly becomes repetitive and lacks depth. Enemies are easily dispatched with basic attacks, and bosses, while visually impressive, follow predictable patterns that make them more tedious than challenging.

The game's true frustration lies in its excessive amount of backtracking. Progress often requires collecting scattered items or completing convoluted tasks, forcing players to trudge through the same familiar areas repeatedly. This repetitive nature makes the game feel like a chore rather than an enjoyable experience.

While the game's art style is undeniably impressive, its dark and gritty aesthetic can become overwhelming after extended play sessions. The oppressive atmosphere and constant barrage of grotesque imagery can make it difficult to maintain interest and motivation.

Overall, Blasphemous is a game that seems to prioritize difficulty and obscurity over accessibility and enjoyment. While it may appeal to those seeking a punishing challenge, its flaws outweigh its strengths, making it a frustrating and unrewarding experience for many players.

Hollow Knight Review

Overall Rating: 8/10

Hollow Knight is an amazing game with very little to complain about. It's challenging, and rewarding, and has beautiful music, animation, and environments.

Good Points:
  • Challenging but fair gameplay
  • Slow learning curve so you're not overwhelmed at first
  • Rewarding bosses that feel like they can be beaten by skill, not luck
  • Top-notch music, animation, and environments

Bad Points:
  • Can be easy to get lost early on
  • Not all charms are required or even useful
  • Would like to see more maps that require different charm combinations

Additional Comments:

I highly recommend playing Hollow Knight without a guide at first. The sense of discovery is one of the best things about the game. However, if you get stuck or frustrated, don't be afraid to look up a guide. (as I did)

Overall, Hollow Knight is an amazing game that I highly recommend.

Lies of P is a dark and atmospheric Souls-like game with amazing graphics, a great variety of weapons, and fun enemies to fight. The game is challenging, but rewarding, and I highly recommend it to fans of the genre.

The graphics in Lies of P are truly stunning. The world is beautifully rendered, and the character models are incredibly detailed. The game's dark and Belle Époque Era aesthetic is perfectly captured in the visuals, and it creates a truly immersive experience.

The gameplay in Lies of P is very similar to other Souls-like games. Combat is challenging and requires careful timing and positioning. There is a wide variety of weapons to choose from, and each one has its own unique playstyle. I found myself experimenting with different builds and finding new and creative ways to fight enemies.

The enemies in Lies of P are also very well designed. Each enemy has its own unique attacks and abilities, and they all require different strategies to defeat. I found myself not skipping any of the enemies on my way to the boss, as they were all fun and challenging to fight.

The boss fights in Lies of P are some of the best I've experienced in a Souls-like game. Each boss is unique and memorable, and they all require different strategies to defeat. I found myself really enjoying the challenge of learning the boss patterns and finding the best way to beat them.

My only real complaint about Lies of P is that some of the boss fights are a bit too random and chaotic. This can be frustrating, especially if you're trying to learn the boss's patterns. Additionally, I found the last part of the game to be a bit more boring than the rest of the game. It felt a bit rushed, and the final boss fight wasn't as satisfying as some of the other bosses in the game.

Overall, Lies of P is an amazing game that I highly recommend to fans of the Souls-like genre. It has stunning graphics, great gameplay, and fun enemies to fight.

Pros:

* Amazing graphics
* Great gameplay
* Fun enemies to fight
* Challenging and rewarding boss fights

Cons:

* Some boss fights are a bit too random and chaotic
* Last part of the game feels a bit rushed

I was afraid, but I tried anyway,
And I did it, I beat the game.
Sekiro, you tested me,
But I refused to break.

Your bosses were tough,
Your enemies relentless,
But I persevered,
And I became relentless.

I learned to deflect,
I learned to counter,
I learned to dance with death,
And I emerged victorious.

Sekiro, you are a masterpiece,
A game that challenges and rewards,
A game that makes you feel like a true shinobi.

Thank you, Sekiro, for the journey.
