I will write a short review as of 21/07/2015. I have been playing this game a fair amount *cough ignore my play time* and it is genunily a fun game. However it does lack in a lot of areas and I'll start with the negative. This game is very repetitve and there is no nice way to put it. The dungeons are fun the first time when you go into a new biome and do each of them. However the number of them are limited and well it becomes the same. Mobs are recycled a lot as well and in a lot of biomes they are the same but just reskinned. An example would be the caterpillar from the Fae Wilds and the jelly worm in Candoria and so on and so fourth. Also in terms of their dungeons there are recipe dungeons which offer you 1 recipe for each one you do. This is good and bad. The dungeons aren't long but there are a lot of recipes and I mean a lot. What is worse it is the same in every biome the only difference really being either structual or lay out and the layout isn't that much different. Another problem is class balance it is fair to say some classes are stronger than others and other classes survive easier and they don't always mix. My Boomeranger is a good example of this. He can dish out a fair amount of damage but he is incredbily squishy while my Fae Trickester got to level 20 (max in terms of levels) without dying due to his clone ability. However my Fae's damage is questionable. There is also quite a lack of quests to do. You follw the tutorial but there a big gaps inbetween them where you just end up grinding constantly which ges back to the point of repetitive dungeons. The ques can be a nightmare and they keep saying they are working on this but I've already seen it where they fixed the problem and then the next update it was unfixed.

That was a lot of negativity and I know it sounds like I'm ripping on the game a lot but as I said there are good and bad parts. However I will start the good section. This game is fun if you can look past the repeitive grinding and there really are a lot of classes to unlock and experiment with. I also like the fact that each class does something different for abilties instead of them being similar. The equipment as well doesn't limit you to wearing ugly or unmatching armour. Once you have broken down items on the loot table you collect the design which you can change. While this is great it gets better are there are some really cool looking desgins while some are just so crazy you think "Should I?". There are quests you can do to help with a bit of bonus experience but don't rely on them. A great great pro of this game is the building. Like minecraft the only limit is your mind and the club worlds allow you to make the biomes in the world (for a heafty amount of materials but it is soo worth it). Want a giant fortress in the fire moutains? You can have it!. Even if you don't want to build in the club world there is always your own little plot of land which you will use often. Now this a pro and con but all your charaters share the same inventory and armour designs (you can change it for each charater uniquely what I mean is if it's unlock you can use it). However this means if you have a full inventory and switch and go out well you get the picture. But this means you can equally give items to your lower classes without a second person needing to trade. Crafting also goes onto your alts so if you have ringcrafting at 250 the alt has it as well. I personally like this because it means I don't have to keep redoing the proffessions.

There is probably more I could write BUT I have already written quite a lot so I'll summarise. This game is free, fun and worth a try but do keep in mind what I said. I would say overall my personal score of this game would be 7/10.

Early Access Review
First of all I would say I reccomend this game because it can be fun to play. I wanted to do a funny review about how on my first day I went behind a dinosaur (Trike), punched in the buttocks and it proceeded to be knocked unconcious and say 10/10 would fist dino again but I do feel a more serious review is needed. There are pros and cons to this game and I am still in the process of going through it myself. My advice on this game to anyone considering it is to find friends and make a private server. If you have read other reviews you will have noticed people killing you, taking your stuff and destroying your buildings while offline is a problem. The only current way to counter that is to play private (which is what I do thanks to some people). Also make sure the server you play on isn't hardcore because a hardcore mode server means you will not only lose your stuff if you die but also all the levels you gained. Oh and prepare to die...a lot.

So the pros of this game are that you can tame dinosaurs! Which is pretty awesome you can have your very own giant T-Rex pet and ride it with pride. The map is huge and there are quite a few different spawn points you can choose meaning on one play through you may choose to spawn on the east side of the map but the second on the west and if you die you can choose to respawn there anyway. The game has a bit of a learning curve but as you die you learn how to do things quicker and learn the tricks to get stuff back quickly. It used to take me 1-2 hours to get my stuff back if I lost everything now it takes at the most 30 minutes. The game is also very beautiful and has some great scenery and I found myself admiring it a lot (however don't let your guard down!) and trying to explore new locations.

However... here come the negative sides. I already mentioned about the PVP problem and you can read several reviews explaining them. The game is quite unrealistic at times and for me it kind of breaks the survival feel. You need to drink water... a lot which is important like in real life. However you will die pretty quickly once you become dehydrated and this will not take long I have never died from dehydration but I assume I have been pretty close as my screen flashed a violent purple and this was only after 5 minutes of it happening and an hour or so in game time. The dinosaur AI is a bit crap as well due to the fact many dinosaurs get stuck in rocks. This works as a blessing and a curse really and maybe more blessing. If you get chased by a dinosaur you have really only one option (unless you are equppied to deal with them) which is run. The best stratgey is to try leap over rocks or squeeze between them. The dinosaurs don't seem to understand going around them. When also hunting the more cowardly dinosaurs they again get stuck on rocks meaning you can stab them and not have them run. As I said these may seem like blessings but it just feels like shoddy AI. The animations of resources can be quite unrealistic as well the palm trees and big trees fall fine and somewhat realistic but don't cut a willow tree. The tree once it falls does a 180 into the ground which kinda ruins it. I also dislike the fact that all the bushes give the same stuff despite looking different. From a bamboo looking plant to a fern they yield the same stuff which again kinda ruins it.

Overall it is still been developed and they are patching everytime but these are things to keep in mind before purchasing.

My personal score?
7/10

So I just finished this game and I decided I would write my own little review to tell you all my thoughts on the game. However I would like to say that it is strictly my opinon more than anything. So take some parts with a pinch of salt.

So I'll start with the negative because well why not. The begining island is really not fun at all mainly because hey guess what? It's pratically all swamp. This hinders how quick you get around the map which in honesty when you look isn't a very big map.

Secondly I was a little frustrated by dead zones and how easily accesible they are. Some of the rarer items you need within the games are found in dead zones but what frustrates me is how they are in SET dead zones and if they are there once it will be again. I found myself going in the dead zones clearing , looting and exiting then rinse repeat. I understand it limits the frustration on trying to find items but still it made it way to easy. I also really disliked that some items that were meant to be common became incredibly rare. For one quest I needed 7 clamps and it took me towards the end of the first part of the island before I got them all. Now I would understand if I was the kind of gamer who rushes through but I search EVERYTHING and do all the side quests before main ones. I even set out a few times to search for set items but had no look finding them. One quest I failed because of this and because there is no manual saving well I couldn't undo it.

One issue I had with a lot of the side quests mainly was the fact that some were just so similar. There are a few note worthy ones but a lot were just Rescue so and so. That is nothing new from the first one but the amount there are espically in the city is ridiclous.

Another problem I feel was that the enemies were way to strong. I like a challenge in a game don't get me wrong but when a walker becomes a massive threat that is a problem. I finished the game at roughly level 60 and the walkers for a while had been taking a quater of my health every hit. This was really frustrating because suddenly a group of four walkers suddenly becomes a big threat. Even the infected who's job is to catch you by surprise and stun you a little were doing a lot of damage. Now again this could be easily changed by turning the difficulty down I understand that but on medium it seems extreme.

Now the positive!

I really liked the story and some of the elements that were added. It pretty much picks up off where the previous game left off and it also has an interesting ending. I also really liked the fact that the crafting was quite simple and modifications were now more easily accessed due to many of them being quest rewards. I mean the amount of mods you find it can be quite difficult to select which one to use. I used Xian which meant I focused around using blade weapons but I could have two different poisons, fire, eletric and even some area of affects. This was certainly a step up from the first one.

I also liked the amount of weapons that you could use. There are new weapons for each catogrey and there are different kinds of projectiles to throw. There are also the introduction of mines! Which are really fun to use but also incredibly helpful. Another part which I really enjoyed was some of the new quests some coming from the main story line. I won't say which ones or where but they required quite a bit of planning.

There are some new mobs to fight which some that seem to require similar tactics as the previous zombies. Now a few are more deadly than others but I often found myself trying to avoid fighting certain mobs (Again I won't list which) because of the risks. I also like the mini bosses that can be found throughout the island either through exploration, quests or dead zones. They also offer a challenge because generally unlike their normal counterparts they are immune to certain things.

I will say despite the map been a problem to get around and navigate there is some very beautiful scenery. A lot being from the first part of the island I found myself stopping at times and admiring it for a few seconds (When I was being munched by hordes of zombies or trying to kill them).

The sequel also works with interacting with your team members by doing quests for them which have benefits such as more merchandise and/or better equipment. I really liked this because it does give incentive to actually do them as well as getting the mods. There are quite a few side quests that are interesting and some offer insight to those who you do them for and make them worth doing.

Overall I would reccomend this game if you can have patience and take the time to enjoy the game.

My personal score for the game? 7.5/10

In honesty this game is good depending on what your looking for. If your looking for mindless killing with no real story line then this game is really good. Team work and knowing what your doing is required and sometimes helping people when they join games in later rounds. As stated if your looking for a story line more than just killing then this might not be your cup of tea. If your unsure about this game get it on sale that way if it isn't what you wanted you didn't waste any money.
