Unfortunately, Young Earth Creationists have had such a significant cultural impact that, to the general public, anti-evolution is often perceived as the orthodox Christian perspective. However, the origins of Young Earth Creationism do not trace back through the pages of church history. Instead, it is a relatively new movement that originates with the 1845 “visions” of Ellen G. White—the "prophet" of Seventh-day Adventists. Many of the greatest theologians in history have advocated for a non-literal interpretation of Genesis and have even identified as Darwinian Evolutionists.
