As someone who does a respectable curating... I must apologize, this is somewhat of a knee-jerk review. I don't want to give spoilers, so I will say this... my "negative" review is largely based off my response to a growing tradition in AAA games, where the devs willingly DEFY player expectations to create what they think is better art. Games are supposed to cater to the player's expectations, even if they are the same silly expectations, still, what players want should rule. Video games are not movies, and high-end devs should stop treating them like that. While there are a lot of "passive" gamers, a large percent still want games that meet their fantasy's - a life they wish they could live, and in medieval days, that's all the tapestry of a knight or nobles journey. I'm very disappointed in these devs. With all this historical immersion and detail, they ruin so much of it with their defiance to player's expectations and wants. Players deserve better. Henry deserves better.

If Mount & Blade Bannerlord had a lighter, simpler interface (in a good way), with the ability to more seemlessly (native) modify army composition, custom design one's own fortresses and bases, in a historical Britannic setting with detailed Roman army and subjugation tactics... in a beautiful simplified but gorgeous graphical overhaul... then you would almost have a game as awesome as this. Highly recommend!

The game has a bright future, as it prepares to take up the slack of games that the devs, just didn't really care what the playerbase wanted. A trend that Ubisoft has made quite popular, where the dev's vision supersedes what players want.

The biggest example (relevant to this game) is Medieval Dynasty. Devs spent a lot of time working on an amazing Medieval Settlement Governing simulator. Despite the fact that every medieval game comes with the expectations of Castles, Lords, Ladies, and Knights, despite the fact that such additions would work within the game's design code, the devs have defiantly said "No" to nearly every single player-expectation. Players asked for Medieval Churches, or Knights, or Minor Lords, or Castles... we got, plant trees instead. This has of course opened the gates wide for competition to come in and welcome in all the denied Lords and Ladies of the medieval gaming world. Seriously, game's are supposed to take you to a fantasy place where you can't go in real life - who fantasizes about being a Medieval serf, when you can be a Lord?

I've lost track of how many times a player made some mention in the Medieval Dynasty forums about, "oh, I just pretend I'm the lord of my village". So... we are playing a game... and then we are pretending the game is something else... because it should be, it's meant to be, but it isn't. WHY?

Enter this game - and for those of you that remember... Medieval Dynasty before it became the highly-polished-Serf-Game, had a much rougher technical-content start than this game. This game has so much promise - it's exciting!

I'll try to write a better review later, for now... I encourage you, enjoy this game, get it now, support the devs who listen, enjoy the game as it becomes a true legacy to the Medieval life we want.

Great game. I can almost forgive them for cutting out the unmanned lunar landings (SMH). Great streamlined play, nice mini-games (which you can auto-calc if you want too).

One of the coolest features in the game is the ability to have TV's in the gym that you can control the content (via youtube streaming through the TV). That feature has been bugged over a year now with over a dozen complaints confirming the widespread issue. Yet, they release "full" version without resolving it. Until they care more for their game and fix this - I'm not going to care more for their game. Do not recommend.

When you buy a Fantasy (General) Strategy game you expect to get more than 2 factions, or 1 in the case of the campaign. That's what you call a "demo"... a $60 demo. Yikes! Buy the whole edition on a HUGE sale... or pass, IMHO. Keep in mind when I say 2 factions, I don't mean two player-factions... I mean TWO factions... major dry repetition.

I was about to leave, and check out it's competitor... then I stayed. Hours later the game began to really unfold. Great game, slow start.

Dev can't fix his own code. All he does is add content on broken code-logic. The bug lists grows. I don't think he knows how to fix code, I think he is just a builder on engine. The game has multiple game-breaking bugs. So now he has introduced he's stopping work on this game and is going to make a new online game (assuming he think it's on a more stable engine so he can have fewer bugs to ignore - unfortunately online games usually mean bigger and more severe bugs).

I don't like reviewing like this... I try to take the side of indie devs - its not easy, everyone complains, no one does better. Still, this looks like a disaster with questionable proffessional-ethics.

I do wish him good luck. Feel sorry for everyone who paid for this broken abandonement - and less sorry for those who buy his online game that follows (as this game is a big warning).

I NEED to write a good review for this game. I guess I will put out this positive review, and then over time, I will update this review, frequently, and with great passion, and make it better, and better, and better, and eventually this review will be FIRGGIN AWESOME, and yet I will still continue work to improve this review...

I played the demo, because... why not? Did not expect much. The game's play cycle was surprisingly good. Much better than stocking ANOTHER shelf!

What I found way off - printing your own money (by the way they got the order wrong, you wash the money to make it crinkly, because when print it, it's too fake-new-straight)?

Giving the finger??? Do you know what that historically means... giving "the man" the finger, "the boss", the "Establishment", the power hungry capitalist.... YOU ARE the person you should be giving the finger too (if you do that kind of thing). IMHO - stop flipping yourself off, you're clashing genres. Makes the devs look like they are a bunch of teenagers who don't know what they are doing or what they are simulating. Might as well be doing the graffiti yourself, or skating boarding to work...
