How could I possibly put into words anything that would even remotely come close to an accurate representation of my thoughts on this?

This is simply one of the greatest experiences I have ever had in my 22(at the time) years. Trying to pinpoint specific things that made it such would be difficult. Just a wonderful experience.

The music, oh lord the music.
The combined talents of Laura Shigihara and Kan Gao make this one of the most, alright i'll say it, beautiful soundtrack in a game that is based entirely on its narrative story. The fitting music is comforting when it needs to be as well as dark and unsettling in times where you truly feel worried. However then you have moments like Laura Shigihara's "Everythings Alright" that just bring all the emotion, struggle, hope and everything you've been obsorbing the whole time and lets it all out with you.

The simplistic yet perfect medium.
Using what could arguably be a simple medium for the presentation of this game, the story and music brings it to the player in a way that far surpasses some more elaborate and higher budget projects. Its just simple, raw, true storytelling. When finishing you can't help but wonder what these writing talents could do given the support of some AAA titles. However at the same time I think a lot of the magic would be lost. Which brings me to my belief that the current method works just fine.

The story keeps you going.
The biggest drawback people might face is the gameplay. This is where you notice the time focused more on story/music rather than gameplay elements. It is point and click at its finest. More of an interactive story than an adventure. But don't that make you think its so easy *cough* horseback riding memory *cough*. There are things that require thought. Which are kind of speed bumps on your way but provide a good way of pacing the story.

Onward and upward.
This is not all Kan Gao and Freebird Games have done. They have other projects worth looking into which can be found on their site. There is also an extra holiday episode that fills a gap between To the Moon and the upcoming Bird Story. All of which I highly reccomend looking into.

Must do's.
Others can feel free to edit in their own thoughts here, but how you play this game is a very important deal in my opinion. I should start by explaining how I came across this game. I came home from work to log into Steam and do my daily "what are my friends up to?" check. I see just one friend in game. An unfamiliar title to which I instantly message him asking what it was. I got no reply so I simply shrugged and went about my evening until about 3 hours later I finally heard the all too familiar ping of Steam messaging. Now this friend is one i've known and grown with for years. We are very alike. His reply was simply "get this game." Luckily I had money and before I even replied it was downloading.
I jokingly asked something to the effect of "what the hell did I just buy." He basically told me to shut my door, disable Steam overlay, put my phone away and just play the game. So I did. Roughly 3.5 hours later I emerged after the wonderful thing I just sat through.

So in playing this, I HIGHLY reccomend do it in one sitting and far from the distractions of the world.

In short, this is one of the greatest things I have ever seen. All who wish for an amazing story pick this up. You can ask any of my Steam friends, I think i've bought it for almost all of them
