Early Access Review
This game is frustrating. The point is to explore, but that's impossible with levels so small! Each level takes about 3 minutes to complete, if you don't die before because you can't run more than 3 seconds. In other words, this is a linear game, where each level is clearly defined.

In short, the game looks very promising, but there are still A LOT of adjustments before being enjoyable. The character feels heavy, and out of shape; expect to die more than actually play the game.

I will edit my review once and if these things get resolved.

Oh, this runs perfectly on Proton.

This game has been unplayable for the last few months with Steam Play. For a game using Unreal Engine, I find amazing that it would not be available in Linux.

It may be free, and I do understand the work behind such project, but it simply does not work.

This game is unplayable as it freezes all the time. Going alt+tab seems to unfreeze the game, unfortunately this will also restart the game from the very beginning. After watching the intro about 20 times within 8 minutes, I simply gave up playing this game.

So, yeah, no save on progress, and you'll lose everything when the game crashes. This is just a waste of time.

There, I took the time to explain.

No health, then you die, then you restart all over again. And again. And again. All over again. This game is simply wasting my time, and I don't feel entertained. Maybe some people will like the frustration, I'd simply like some opportunity to explore more than one chamber.... Can't recommend this game if you're a casual gamer like me. Unfortunately. (This game was on my wish list....)

Major memory leaks with Proton, which makes the game so laggy that it becomes unplayable. But this is something that should be expected from a Flash-based game. Please, note that Flash has had problems for over a decade, has been marked as deprecated in 2017, and announced it's end of life by 2020.

Other than that, if the game had cross-platform support, and would actually have a native implementation, it would be a game I'd play frequently.

So, even if I recommend this game, I cannot personally play it, and have no hope for long term support in the future.

All I see is "Download". When click on it, the game starts, but does not seem to download anything. In fact, in the DLC section (in game), I see the DLC being "Purchased" but "Not downloaded".

I am on Linux and I have every single DLC of this game.... except this one and the HD Texture pack. Why?

The game is fun, like Euro Truck Simulator 2. But there are still very frustrating things with this game :

1. Speed limits change without warning, and then you get fined, then by the time you look WHY THE F you were fined, the speed limit is back up and you're not speeding anymore. For example, the limit is 55 mph, you go 50 mph, then the limit drops to 35 mph for no G DAMN reason, and there's a police car.... again.... but the speed limit goes back up at 55 mph immediately after.

2. There are police cars EVERY FREAKING WHERE! Seriously, I see about 1 police car for ever 3 to 4 cars that I see on the road!

3. I just got hit by a dumb-ass driver who turned ON A RED LIGHT, hit me.... AND I GOT FINED!

4. Freeway ramps are too short. I don't know who designed the roads, but this is not how to drive in America; ramps give you a chance to accelerate before merging.

etc.

In my review of Euro Truck Simulator 2, some people have commented about disabling the offences. Really? Is that how I should enjoy a game, by cheating or dumbing it down?

I'm on Linux, and I played Borderlands 2 (native), The Pre-Sequel (native), then the original Borderlands (via Steam Play) without any problem whatsoever. Then come this GOTY Extended version, and it does not work at all; the game crashes every single time I start a new game. I have tried all the suggested solutions thus far, nothing works. Very disappointed.

I have had this game for over a year, now. It seemed to work well when it was in Alpha. Then I waited for the final release. And I cannot play this game anymore. The devs said that it was a problem with the engine. But it was working before... But not anymore.

The bottom line is that the game was very promising and I really wanted to experience the story by myself.

I'm still waiting for the devs to fix this broken game.

2020 : still not fixed.

As much as I love the game, and as much as I wanted to play it for a while, it is quite frustrating. I wrote a lengthy review, but Steam won't allow me to post it because it's too long, so here's the short version :

I play this game on a 4 years old Linux computer and it works flawlessly; no crash ever, and above 100 fps with all graphics settings set to max.

However, this game is more annoying than anything else; getting fined for no apparant reasons because of speed changes with no road sign, getting fined for having lights on during the day, getting fined for not having lights on during the day while raining, getting fined for following traffic speed, getting fined when getting hit by cars (because cars go over 100 kph while you're limited to 80 kph, and often go slower because other cars drive at 50 kph in an 80 kph zone for no reason), getting fined when other trucks sideswipe you for no reason whatsowever, getting fined when you are looking for a place to rest, getting fined while parking in a place to rest, getting fined by cops from the other side of the freeway, getting fined by cops who are driving underneath the overpass you're on, etc.

This game should be called "Avoiding getting fined while driving a truck simulator".

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game in the current state. This is unfortunate, because I found it to be relaxing otherwise, and was looking forward for the next map expensions.
