A competent 4X game with enjoyable single player campaigns.

Endless Space 2, a year and a half out from release, is a mature and mechanically solid game. The 4X components are strong and relatively standard, with a few new spins. Exploring is extended with the probe mechanic and interesting encounters. There are options in expansion, building tall or spreading wide. It is not overly easy or too painful to grow new colonies. This and other map-based gameplay like resources can be adjusted in map generation. Combat is robust, and works on a solid system in combination with the ship designer. The game's score is especially good in my opinion, with inspiring brass for a space opera setting.

Excellent team-based simulation. Communications system is robust and works well. Up and coming shooter success.
