Just finished the main story for the first time and had an absolute blast ripping and tearing my way through it all. The Doom franchise has managed to retain its crown as the best FPS series on the market in my opinion. The formula has changed pretty dramatically from Eternal, so I can't directly compare the two. I loved Eternal, and I love this equally. They both very satisfyingly scratch a slightly different itch.

Played through with a 5070ti at max settings (5120x1440, DLSS quality) without a single crash, or even a stutter that I can remember. It seems I might have been one of the lucky ones, but as far as performance goes - it was near perfect.

I was skeptical about there being a parry mechanic in a FPS game. But it just... works. Having story cutscenes with so much dialog in a Doom game was jarring at first. But as the game progressed, I started to enjoy that part of it as well. The story isn't really all that deep but it's Doom, and it doesn't need to be.

The one aspect where TDA is really lacking is the soundtrack. It also does not help that the audio mix by default isn't doing the soundtrack any favors. I set the music up to 100%, voices to 90%, and sound effects to 60% - that really helped the soundtrack push through and feel more impactful during fights. But Doom 2016 and Eternal were in another league compared to this.

All in all, a 9/10 banger of an FPS and I look forward to the DLC! I'm glad for games like Doom that keep me excited to game.

I'm a little late to the party on this one, with my first (and almost certainly only) playthough being in 2025. Bit torn on this one. When the game is good, it's excellent. When it's bad, it's frustratingly awful.

The positives:
+Beautiful art direction, visuals, and animation.
+Excellent soundtrack.
+Some of the mechanics, once you get used to them, can be quite enjoyable.
+Not a ton of pointless backtracking.
+Game does not overstay its welcome. Finished it in about 10 hours. But you could definitely spend a lot more time exploring if you really want to.

The negatives:
-Some of the mechanics are VERY unintuitive and horribly explained. Eg: The anti-gravity section. Luckily it's just one small section and you don't have to bother with it again once it's done.
-Combat is not really fun, especially towards the start of the game.
-The save system was... strange. Took a bit of getting used to. But I quickly realized the way to go was to just keep spamming savepoints or you're going to go mad with frustration replaying sections over and over again.
-I played a bit of this game on my Steam Deck. Ori is REALLY small on screen. Bright things in the game are often blown out, and Ori is white and gets lost easily on screen. Especially during the portal puzzles, I had a hard time keeping track of where Ori was and would often randomly die on spikes due to this. I couldn't really find a setting that allowed me to adjust exposure to help with this.
-Less of a big deal, but the game does not support PlayStation icons natively. Nor does it support 5120x1440. But (imperfect) workarounds do exist.

All in all, I might not have recommended this game at full price, but I picked this up on sale for like $4 and at that price it's absolutely worth giving it a chance. I've heard the sequel is a lot more polished, so I'm looking forward to giving that one a go in the near future.

I don't think there's much left to say about this game that hasn't already been better said by someone else. But I will say that in the past, some of my all time favorite games have gotten about 200 hours out of me at best. So my entire review basically boils down to - look at how many hours I've played this game... so far!

Normally this is a game one would think is for beginners to Magic: the Gathering, but as an intermediate/advanced player I've still found myself playing through the stories/quests and having a blast.

On paper, I play Modern. This game has given me a chance to play with cards from new sets I don't otherwise get a chance to play with. The music is great and the gameplay is easy to understand and follow. There are the occasional glitches here and there, but they are few and far between. I can't even remember the last one I've run into.

I can confidently recommend this to a beginner or to anyone else that wants to play Magic, but wants to take a small yet satisfying break from their regular Magic format of choice.

EDIT : After news of MTG Arena coming out in a few months or so, I suggest using this as a quick tutorial game and not much else. Once you are familiar and comfortable with gameplay, definitely drop this and get on MTG Arena!
