its basically a compelation of pre-existing graphics mods paired with some pretty bad reworking of the maps and enemy placement.

playing on higher difficulties is almost impossible as you can't aim fast enough (engine design) to take them out fast and they all lazer gun aim you.

the AI hasn't been modernised to make up for the reworking of enemy locations, so its now very painfully clear when you shoot something and it dies and all the enemies within X radius of the enemy now zone in on you without any line of sight.

it was great game, this doesn't make it better.

it's fantastic.

heres a good example of the detail:
my base has an overheating issue, this comes from the ambient temperature of my water being too high, which means thr O2 and H2 I split from it is too hot, so my base is full of hot air which makes the water get hotter and so the cycle continues.

I could pipe the air through a cooler before feedign it back into my base, but that heat still has to go somewhere.
I could use an organic soloution,
I could move my water tank to a colder biome.
I could melt ice into the tank to lower its temperature.

there's probably more soloutions I didn't think of.

all the comments about how "hygene broke the game" are just noobs who can't handle the idea that the game is harder than they want it to be. I find contagion very easy to manage almost to the point where I forget it's a mechanic.

a dynamic management sim where trouble can rear its head very suddenly at 2 / 20 / 200 or 2000 cycles.

Can't wait to see where they go with it.

long awaited, fallout 4 was and still is a massive let down.

firstly I'll get the good out the way so we can focus on the rest (won't take long)
- Humour is point
- gunplay is nice

now for the negatives:

- all of the depth and nuance from the previous games is gone replaced with nothing:
leveling is now a single click, specialisation is pointless as every charicter is good at everything by level 40.
karma removed (so your actions have 0 impact or meaning)

- painful console port (painfully clear when building settlements)

- ugly as sin. looks basically the same as new vegas.

- DLC is a joke. an absoloute joke. most of it is simpy settlement content which should have been in the game from launch, the story driven stuff is very mediochre, lacking the input the karma system had on DLC in the glorious New Vegas. The DLC for NV was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ glorious its really hard to understand how its so bad in this.

All round a total let down.

Update 2:
The game is now broken beyond playability.
No possible way I can recommend the game in this state, it is with a heavy heart that I update this to thumbs down.

The lobby bug which has persisted SINCE LAUNCH was something we could live with and mostly ignore, however paired with the recent change to matchmaking it has essentially destroyed the net-code to a point where it's virtually impossible to run a stable heist with 4 players in it.

net-code aside, all the recent content has been pretty soul-less. you can really tell that none of the original designers or developers are still working on the game. (particularity noticeable on map design and animation)

recent weapons and perk decks have taken the ever-present power creep to an extreme all time high.

My last frustration is they KEEP ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ADDING MORE ACHIEVEMENTS.
I earned my perfect game years ago, stop forcing me to buy DLC to maintain it. This is predatory and without a shadow of a doubt designed to re-engage veterans to come back and re-earn their "perfect" game.

At this point in time, I just don't see what the positives are. I've uninstalled and feel pretty meh about Payday 3, but that's a different ramble.

another 500 hours since my original review every word is still true.
The story has had massive improvements too and now has an ending.

Incredible game. Ignore the haters, this game is great and the Dev's have a really good sense of direction and motivation. Regular updates, tonnes of content and even when all the dlc was individually priced I had most of it
Excellent in every respect from customisation of skills to guns, heists and recently bots too.
I'll probably never stop playing this game until payday 3 comes out.

Probably needs to be mentioned that the community can be very weird, there's a lot of noobs who don't take good advice as well as experienced players who won't give it to those who will listen. It's a mixed bag what kind of players you get in public games in terms of both skill and sportsmanship.

gundam wet dream simulator.

the story, action, and style make you feel like a gundam pilot.


10/10 - would cosplay again.

no, no it isn't.

Terraria is a diverse and branched RPG with many different play styles and thousands of items.

Unlike most games with a construction element, in Terraria you always build with specific purpose. It could be to house a vibrant castle town full of NPC's with names and unique dialogue, it could be to prepare for a boss fight or it could be to create a farm of a specific biome.

Terraria always gives you goals, always rewards you and has a good concept of difficulty. Everything is possible, its just not normally easy.

I love this game.

Truly one of the most unique, funny and charming games I've ever played.

The Stanley Parable is a masterpiece of voice acting, intricate game design and subtle nuanced gameplay.

The tiniest actions can change the ending, I have lost count of how many ways I've seen this game end and how many variations on the dialogue and situations I've seen.

now with reduced FPS!

update 2:
Alpha 19 has reworked the loot tables and made it even more of an RNG grind.
the level grind has been reduced, but the game remains unplayable for any serious length of time.
you will die over and over to awful design choices (or lack of design as the case may be) and almost never blame yourself for death. this alone makes the game unplayable.

Wolves spawn in long grass, you can't see about 50% of them untill they attack you. if you don't have a gun (which you won't see above) you'll die.

Wolves, Cougars and Birds are all almost impossible to kill without taking damage, they are faster than the player, have a wider vision radius and are hyper agressive. Animals and Zed's don't interact at all, so you can't just avoid them and wait for the game to deal with it. as ever combat is unavoidable and janky.

unforgivably so, enjoy countless issues with hot boxes and poor stamina mechanics.

update:
the game now has content, but it still looks like a badgers arsehole and it is now a mindless XP grind.
all the content is locked behind many many hours of grinding.
once you get past level 40ish and have decent gear, you don't explore for loot, you simply go zombie hunting. not really a Survival game at all given how meaningless death is and how easy to make / move spawn points are (you can literally carry one and drop it every time things look spicy)

its like the first one, only the level design is game breaking.

many positive reviews from people who didnt play the first one, so I guess if you didn't then you might like this.

if you DID play the first, this will piss you off within minutes.
