Great little game for fans of simulation/management type games, mixed in with some aspects of classic fighting games. Add a bunch of strategic decision making and you got Victory Road.

You are playing the coach of an up and coming boxer, working your way to the top. There are actually a bunch of different approaches you can take to achieve your goals. You have the option to setup your boxer with a specific strategy/style, train specific stats to fit your playstyle and invest skill points into offensive/defensive/utility skills to further customize that experience. Gives the game replayability as well to try out different fighting styles.

The fights themselves are not just a passive thing to watch and hope for the best outcome, you can directly influence the outcome of the fight by giving your boxer specific commands using the focus system. You can setup commands for basic punches, defensive options like blocking and even combos or special moves. Using these commands at the right time can easily turn a fight around. In addition, you can bring some questionable items to the ring and help your boxer out (or the opponent if you throw at an unfortunate moment).

There are lots of other things to do, like selling hot dogs, working the mines or gambling on other matches to make some money. All the systems tie together really nicely.

I am looking forward to future developments and what kind of stuff will get added/adjusted, but even now at the start of early access, I would say it is well worth a try and you will already be able to spend a great amount of time with it.
