This doesn't offer anything Steam doesn't already do (unless you buy the upgrade)

A bite-sized game that you can take yourself into a few times and enjoy. There are definitely improvements that could be made, but the underlying core has something interesting. I would love to see this concept with 1v1 multiplayer.

I wish I could leave a starred review because there is a lot to like, even love, about this game. But ultimately all the good things about this game don't outweigh just how exhausting Marvel's Midnight Suns can be. The game feels like it was built around microtransactions that were pulled at the last minute. I would only recommend playing this game if you can install mods.

Pros:
● Genuinely interesting strategy and deck building game systems
● The characters are well written and feel true to their comic book counterparts and there's a nice Bioware-style conversation system to get to know them
● An arch, but interesting, story. The game's story feels like it would be a well-received months-long comic storyline

Cons:
● Extremely limited resources that feels like the game is begging you to shell out a couple bucks to get some extra power or friendship or triple your gameplay time grinding these resources and secondary progress (can be "fixed" with mods)
● It doesn't NEED it, but the fact that they incorporate a Bioware-style companion system, I'm genuinely surprised there are no romances.
● The characters look awful. Everyone looks too smooth and vaguely plastic. Like action figures come to life and I mean that as an insult. It also doesn't match the more realistic textures given to the scenery.
● Wolverine is one of the tallest characters.
● Wolverine, 5'3" 1.6 m, WOLVERINE, is taller than Captain America.
● There were a ton of weird visual glitches. Enemies sometimes wouldn't leave the battlefield after they were defeated, just ghosts hovering around their companions, unable to be interacted with. Characters would wear their bathing suits in random cutscenes.

Final score: 3/5. If you're a big Marvel fan or really into the idea of a card-building strategy game, you'll have fun with this if you install mods. But for everyone else, it's better to give it a pass.

This is another example of a great team knocking it out of the park. Screamingly funny and genuinely heartwarming; I adore this series.

VtM consistently manages to present an interesting setting, the power-play of politics at its most extreme and tends to put you in the middle of the rocks being battered by the current.
I will say though, the way the story is framed, I was expecting more of a mystery, that I would be expected to solve the crime. I would have really appreciated if I could search the beautifully painted scenes looking for clues and had a third (or, I guess fourth) possible ending where I successfully piece all the clues and motives together to actually solve the crime.

Maybe not "the next Fallout," but certainly better than anything Bethesda has been putting out.

I really tried to like this game, there are parts that are really good. The story is interesting, the characters are a lot of fun, and the soundtrack is amazing.

BUT, I went into fights with the best ship, the best defenses available, a buddy at my side, and a weapons loadout I even spent time researching to make as effective as possible. But if there were more than 4 opponents, they rip my shields down in seconds with unerring accuracy and blow me into dust. And all the activities you can get up to while exploring the galaxy quickly become frustrating chores that I just started blowing right past to get wherever I was going.

I gave this game another chance, none of the problems really went away for me. If you're a big fan of space dogfighting, this may be the game for you. If you want to give it a try, consider the problems I mentioned, and never take a mission ranked harder than "average." Maybe get it when it's on sale.

This is a very picturesque Tactical-shooter-JRPG, not without flaws but with an engaging enough (though very twee) story. And I'll always be a sucker for Skies of Arcadia, and Valkyria Chronicles includes characters from that game. The controls can be a little finicky, and I think the UI could use a lot of improvements.

The biggest downside is that there are a few segments where the game straight-up cheats. I want to find the person that designed the mission in chapter 14. I want to look them in the eyes and assure them that they're a bad person and that they made the world a worse place by being in it.

I'm not crying, it's raining.

This game does a really good job of exploring the film noir that saturates the cyberpunk genre, but approaches it from a perspective of emotional intimacy and connection. Rather than a stoic detective, this is a vulnerable cab driver, caught in a world that's slowly killing her without even the consideration for the pieces that are being carved away.

Brilliantly written with a delicious mystery driving you forward, the game is a strange and unique mixture of archaeology and deduction, trying to find where we exist in relation to those that came before, and how much of their legacy we must respect.
