It's not for everyone. I'd recommend - if you're having a hard time - give it a few playsessions. Take your time. Breathe. If you want better hit %, turn difficulty slider down or start with points in Agility. You can absolutely get used to it.

The mod community is also extremely active. Though it is worth noting IMO vanilla MW holds up more than TES 2,4,5 vanilla. I play with very few to zero mods most playthroughs. But you should get OpenMW (important Engine fixes) at the very least, even if you play umodded.
