S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is fun, tense, and familiar. GSC Game World managed to capture not only the spiritual essence of what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was, but also what it became throughout its 17 year lifespan of community modding. The optimization is lacking, so at this point in time stronger hardware is required for the beauty shots. Gameplay feels tight with good flow and the transitions from low effort - low danger to high risk - high reward feels right. Looting an irradiated building to find nothing of value, then turning around to pick up a priceless artefact from the deadly jaws of entropy is a free-play loop that feels rewarding and grounded. The game tallying your death counter is a testament to the developers understanding of what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is. You must be greedy, fair, and selfish, and that is the only way you will survive the Zone.

Highly recommend if you liked the previous entries in the series. Good way to get into the genre if you are new. Try now or wait for updates, you shouldn't miss out on this experience.
