I spotted that game on Next Fest in previous year and quite liked the demo, but didn't bought the game right on release. It proved to be a lucky occurence, since over the time developers improved it a lot, expanding the game and detailing it. Liber is a solid action adventure experience, plot is interesting and lighthearted (although I took a peek into developers' posts on social networks, and, just as I thought, it has pretty solid phylosophical and pholosophical basis as well!). A lot of scenes in the game filled with warmth which is a common guest in a story of two friends travelling, - a plot trope I hold very dear.

Game mechanics appeared to be very forgiving for unskilled player, if utilized smartly (20/10 throwing stones, will throw again :D), and the game world is assembled with a lot of love and attention to detail. Reading humorous book covers, searching for secrets and interacting with game world apart from the game plot was a pleasant adventure in itself, and I am really interested to see where Olkon team will head next!

Back in the days, when Might&Delight announced Book of Travels, I was mesmerized by the look and feel of game shown, - everything, the visuals, the atmosphere, all seemed perfect, exceptional. I was waiting for the release date, and a bit more, - and what I got, didn't disappointed me in the slightest.

Let me explain; - I'm not blind, I can see the bugs and stutters, but... It's fixable. The core, the essence, - slow, delicate travel through lands and cities, through ruins and lakes, - it's there. Events, talks, secrets, encounters, - Book of Travels is incredibly heartwarming read, so to say! I can't imagine the amount of work which went into this game, every tiny bit is made with delicacy and love. I am more than ready to forgive a stutter or two for this.

The scope of the game and of what is planned is colossal, and I can't wait to see it all becoming a reality.

It is rare thing nowadays, to see a game exeeding all expectations.

It's a common sin, to extend the game with artificial ways, - by adding an additional puzzle here and there, extending the time shoving in some filler content. Not a case here, - everything staged perfectly, like a good movie, all comes and goes in natural flow, game plays at one breath.
Artstyle is so wonderful. Pixelart, with a hint of a grainy movie film shot. It holds itself so well and strengthen the feel of a retro mystery thriller, any other art medium would change the feeling.
Text is great. There is just the right amount of it, no walls of text, no scarcity of replics.

An absolute gem and a masterpiece, given to us for free. How is that? Maybe it's a mystery to discover as well.

Usually, "Lovecraftian" tag alone is a reason for me to consider buying a game, and it was exactly the case with Stars Die. With PS1 style graphic horror it is also like... Either it's very bad, or it's very good.

Stars Dies is the "very good" case.

The amount of content and atmosphere placed on one small island is amazingly big. Each ending questline is beautiful and well directed, along with music, visuals and tempo. None of the endings are good or bad, - they are more like the beginnings, leaving place for thought of what have happened afterwards.

Good music, visuals and tempo went into the base game as well, - sometimes music jumps in to make emphasis on cinematics, sometimes - to shook player up. Walking thorough any of the basic quests is moderately easy, - for the secrets you'll need to put some effort into seraching clues and quest items. But that's the point, right?

What would you see in a movie about yourself? Will it be a comedy or an action film? Just movies are divided into genres, Self-Checkout Unlimited for more than the first half of the game speaks about dividing people by choice, by psychology type, by habits, by reactions, - but no matter how many borders are there, deep in the core people can never be really divided. The process of understanding it, - now that's the hard part. In game this path takes about 3 hours though, and it's a beautiful journey. And it's a beautiful game.

For me one of the fundamental questions about the human nature was set in Ray Bradbury's short story "The Blue Bottle". In short - the greatest wish of every person who passed the certain intellectual threshhold is to know what happens when they die. A lot of books, movies and, of course, games try to answer that question.

2020 was especially rich on unusual takes on the afterlife in games. But this game's approach was one of the most original in general, - with innovative game process of delving deep into the nature of big and small everyday objects and even memories.

"I am Dead" is a majestic tale about importance of small trinkets and big dreams. And it is also a tale about readiness - to reach a high goal one must be ready, morally and emotionally. The main character changes a lot during the course of the game. It appeared that for knowing others it's not enough to simply know the facts of their lives. It's important to understand the very essence of their personality, manifested in them and everything what surrounds them.

In "I am Dead" you don't travel far. But you travel deep. And it's beautiful.

Beautiful design of main image caught my attention, demo got me interested even more; now the game is out and the full experience is wonderful.

Promesa is the best at grasping the concept of recalled memories, in my opinion. Just try to remember any real life scene, preferrably an outdoors one. What was happening behind the corner, you don't know. What was heppening 200 meters to the left, you don't remember. Promesa is this, memories, lovingly recreated and carefully "voiced", placed in the emptiness of generally not knowing what was happenning beyond the borders of our attention, but these trees, these bricks, car parked nearby - all that imprinted in the memory, giving it texture, sound, feel... Realness. Somewhere deep in my memories there are sights of small streets and cozy balconies looking exactly like these ones. This game is poetry, the one which sings of slightly open windows and a city panorama you saw only once.

Between one void and another there was a shop, and behind the shop were the fridge with mushroom milk and ghost turnip, and under the shop there were a maze of corridors and rooms, in which tv screen, unplugged, was showin glowing shapes and the drink mashine was distributing the "Miel", which paint the world warm yellow...

Despite the small location (a shop, small portion of the street and backrooms) the worldbuilding in Depanneur Nocturne is incredibly solid: you have insights in history, architecture, god pantheon and art. The world itself, which presumably surrounds the small shop, is interesting and intriguing. The game process is simple and relaxing, and mostly consists of walking around and interacting with items in the shop and backrooms. Through this interaction you learn about the shop's owner and world around.

The interior and characters are created and written with so much love, it's instantly heartwarming. And also, an ace up the sleeve, - there is a cat in this game. A cat you can pet! <3

Game process is really surprising, and the main objective - to find a present for main character's partner - can be achieved in many ways. Actually, you may even neglect achieving it. True love is not about presents, you know!

There is one theme in movies, literature, games and all the other types of storytelling media which interests me most - how one person's words and actions, even very small can influence other people's life. Some of this influence is light, briefly noticeable, but sometimes it can shape other person's future.

Robot Island, though a tiny project, is about small talking person into life's decisions. I'll be homest and say that I got the best ending for the first try and was somewhat scared to move the plot to worst ending (if there is any, I belive, there is). Graphics is charming and cozy, dialogues are well written, I wholeheartedly enjoyed Nim's point of view on different things in human life - games, furniture, jewelery... Nim is written as a robot-companion should be - he has his own perception of things and he is also cheerful and exited. A lot of chances to melt your heart!

Enjoyable little game, comfortable and wholesome, although it's in your power to darken the event horison if you desire so.

Simple, lightweight and cutely designed tool.
I use it as task manager, it's good for assigning the global project, writing a list of tasks, assigning them priority, and, if task is iterative, BM has that pleasant to use "chat with the bug" option. I pin screenshots of my work in the chat, so I can keep an eye on the progress.
And, what is the most important thing, I always have cute mascots nearby, when I work <3
