It's almost impossible to put into words the way Mobius Digital's Outer Wilds consistently made me feel when I was first playing it back in the summer of 2019.

My first couple sessions with the game were nothing particularly special, I appreciated the music, visuals, and witty dialogue but I certainly felt a lack of direction. I probably only played the game for 15 minute-long sessions at a time before putting it down, unsure if I'd ever return to it again.

Days would pass by and I'd begin to see, with exponentially increasing regularity, people whose opinions I held in high regard praise this game, but while being intentionally vague as to what exactly made it so exceptional. On account of this, I returned to it, and this time, I stuck with it to the very end, seeing everything the game had to offer.

Even a whole two years later, I am also going to be one of those people. I can't and won't tell anyone anything about Outer Wilds other than tell them to just play it.
