It's a very different sort of game, with the primary game loop driven by altruism more than anything else. Still the world is fascinating (if a bit depressing) and well worth the exploration if you can afford the time to do it thoroughly.

Be prepared to put up a podcast or something, it can be a bit grindy.

This game might be a decent simulator, but it's a horrible teacher. Understanding what it wants you to do is more an exercise of frustration than of skill.

Maybe if I worked on trains in real life I'd know what it expects.

It's kinda pretty, and has a steep learning curve... but once you've got it figured out (less than 10 hours for me) it quickly grows stale.

The first half had a ton of potential... the setting was awesome and mysterious, and you followed interesting characters through interesting places and events.

The second half follows cardboard cutouts of those characters through... the same places and no events at all really, up to a climatic battle, all the while requiring you to break the fourth wall to solve inane puzzles.

Before act two, I would have pushed anyone I know to buy this game. Now I'm wishing I didn't have it.

One of the best games ever! The engine is a little dated now, but if you give it a fair chance you'll find the story more than makes up for it!

Very underrated. The controls take some getting used to, but rather similar to EvE in the long run.
