******THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE CURRENT STATE OF THE ALPHA AS OF JUNE 14th 2024******

The only real comparison I have is Fight Night, but there's no comparison. This game is pretty bad as of now.

The hit registration is absolutely awful, the movement feels really clunky at times. It feels like punches only actually connect for the player, if you're exactly at arms distance away, and if you're farther you obviously miss, but if you're closer, your arms crumple inward and the punch doesn't do anything, not only that, but it still counts as a punch, so if you get punched after you wet noodle your arm, it counts as a counter for them and you get bent over immediately. The AI is all over the place. They can take 10 power punches to the body/face, and if you get hit twice similarly, you're effed. The knock down mini game is awful.

The training system before a fight is pretty cool. Picking how to train and what to improve is really cool. You get a certain amount of weeks before a fight to improve your stats, advertise the fight/yourself, and rest. You get one action a week. However, the rate at which I get injured is ridiculous... Out of 3 fights with 5 week training periods, 2 of them I injured myself training. It's worth mentioning that each of these required at least one week of social interaction, and the last slot is always rest. So only 3 weeks of training. One of them I even broke a finger and was out for like 6 weeks or something.

Oh and the team/management system sucks too. There's just a lot of stuff that just feels really useless. Maybe it gets to be more involved later, but it should feel like it does something at least, or else what's the point of getting better people?

I'm hoping it will improve upon release, because it does have promise and this is alpha. I mean the framework is there. Just needs some improving.

TL:DR - Hit reg is bad, AI is bad, I'm bad, training is cool, but bad at times. IT CAN be fun at times. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

The goblins delved too greedily and too deep and disturbed a foe that vanquished us all... and in this twist of fate, it was enraged dwarves... 10/10 would reverse Moria.

Graphics: 7/10 - Great graphics, beautiful landscapes, some horrifying eyelids at times.

Gameplay: Bethesda/10 - Literally No Man's Star Citi-Skyrim. You will loot, you will steal, you will be encumbered. Still waiting for some old space scoundrel to say in passing, "I used to be a space adventurer like you, until I took a laser to the knee" A lot of the "fun/advertised" parts of the game are time-gated by level, and leveling takes some time. You get 1 point to allot to a skill every level. You want to craft cool stuff? Gotta waste a point in that category. Wanna craft cool mods? Spend a point! You want to actually AIM in your space ship? Spend that point foo! Once you spend the point, you then need to unlock the next level of it via challenges. Once it's unlocked do you get it? SPEND A POINT. Oh and some of the featured skills are gated behind "spend 3 points in the category." Feels like they should've given more points at start or made leveling easier, or you're just a bum for the first 30 hours of gameplay. There's no level cap tho, silver lining I guess...

Music/Sound/Dialogue: 6/10 - The music sets a nice mood in most cases. Sometimes it randomly plays the battle start music when there are no enemies and it makes me worry that I'm about to be ambushed or something! SFX is pretty solid. Exploring the landscape of a barren mood scavenging for resources and then all of a sudden hearing a ship screaming into the atmosphere and landing is pretty cool and seems well done. The dialogue and VA is OK. The follower comments get annoying AF. I spend 90% of the game encumbered and my companions never shut up about it. It gets annoying. Then they'll say things like "leave nothing valuable behind" ???

Overall: 6.5/10 - It just feels like this should be a lot better for something "25 years in the making." Most of the selling features of the game have been done better in other games. Flying my ship feels like a less responsive Star Citizen, Resource gathering and harvesting, No Man's Sky does it better. Even in Star Citizen, it's tedious, but feels more real and entertaining. In Starfield it feels so forced and not fun. Gunplay was something that I read about how advanced and fun the gunplay was going to be. There's nothing noteworthy about it. If you told me this was a Fallout 3 mod, it wouldn't be hard to believe.

This was a hard decision. I do really like the game at times. But honestly, after exploring a bunch of star systems and landing on and exploring what feels like 20 or more planets, it's all the same. Nothing really feels different about any of the planets other than a color shade. You have the same 10-15ish fauna, the same 10-15 flora. The same EXACT data pads with the same EXACT "stories" and messages. It feels like a big copy paste with minor changes. When BGS talked about the procedural generation, it made me feel like there was going to be a lot of differentiation between worlds. Doesn't feel that way.

***NON-STORY LINE SPOILERS***
I have been to 4 "different" abandoned outpost/robotics/bionics facilities, with the same layout, same backstory (some guy with the same name in every place, goes nuts and wants to automate everything and fires everyone. Robots go nuts and become hostile)
It seems like really lazy writing and lack of attention to detail.

Hey thanks for stopping by my review. If you're still reading this, I have a quest for you! Compliment yourself. Tell yourself your favorite thing about you. You deserve it! Have a wonderful day!

My review will be mainly about the Superstar Mode

Backstory: I was super excited for the dedicated Superstar mode improvements. It always seemed like that was the first mode to suffer(or be removed entirely), yet it was why I bought these games. I loved making a player and following their journey. Good times. I skipped M23, so I'm sorry if anything was already implemented/redundant.

Review TLDR: Overall the game IS fun. But there are several things that make that fun short lived. If you love the Madden franchise, wait for the sale.

PROS:
-The skills and progression system seem fun and exciting, and reward different play-styles at the same position. Leaves it open to more replayability and customizing.
-A lot of customization options for gear.

CONS:
-With all the control they added, the game just feels less responsive and more sluggish. Juking with a character that has less than 85 stat, looks like they attempting a line dance on the field... My 75 year old uncle could perform a more convincing juke.
-The camera is a nightmare situation. When the ball goes to anyone but you, the camera leaves you behind making it so you can't see what you're doing or where you're going. I've had several block in the backs called on my guy because I'm either running my route still for that split second, and then run into the back of the guy that's covering me, BOOM flag. Extremely Frustrating.
-the game stuttering is the killer for me. When running drills the game stutters when your get right to a defender, making it really hard to juke, spin or truck properly.
-The progression tree and skills are cool, but there's little explanation on what the benefit is for each skill and the impact they will make, the stats are a little better. Some are straight forward, but some are worded a little more confusingly.

If I think of anything else or they massively overhaul things (lol)... I'll update this.

If you are still reading: You are amazing, don't ever forget your value and have yourself a fantastic day!!!!

This game is everything you want it to be. This is the culmination of decades of learning how to integrate DnD into a game. From all the BD games, the DnD games. They have learned. They have listened. What we have is a work of art. Well done.

What a fun little game! It feels like Hearthstone meets Footman Wars from WC3.

You get a small deck of cards and play them with mana that rapidly regenerates.

Counter your opponents troops and destroy their base to win!

It doesn't feel overly pay to win, as you can buy rubies to unlock more things. But I beat a few people with bought things so it really doesn't seem to matter. Find a solid strat and SENNND IT!

It's free.... What are you waiting for?...

Had you asked me about this game a few months after release, or even just a few days ago, it would've been an absolute recommend.

Here's the story.

I beta tested this game and was instantly loving every aspect of it. Release came and went and I played my fair share. Taking screenshots of my stat screens when I did well, and just overall having a great time playing. I even bought it for my wife so we could play together. Had loads of fun.

Fast forward to 2019, 5/27/19 to be exact. I had a sudden itch to play. So i reinstall and load it up. All my character progress was gone. Everything had been reset. I figured something happened with the game requiring a wipe or something so I didn't think anything of it. Then my wife finally logs in to play and she still has all of her bloodpoints and items along with survivor levels and killer levels.

I immediately go to the forums thinking that maybe her account was bugged or something only to find out that my account was the one with problems. I shouldn't have lost my stuff. So I make a ticket as it says to do, not really worried because it asks for screens of your characters with points and levels showing, which I had, since I was taking screenshots every time I did well. The screenshots I supplied weren't "good enough" and I needed screenshots from my character screen, even though everything they require to be in the picture as in the picture. Yes because normal people who have no interest in streaming or making videos would have random screenshots showing their progress.

Quoted directly from the email

"Full-screen images of your Killer and Survivor characters with levels where all of the game's currency (iridescent shards and bloodpoints), your in-game name, and player rank are visible."

Everything they asked for was in the screenshots EXCEPT iridescent shards because there was no such thing in 2016.

All in all I lost 44-48 hours of progress. We put our trust in to these companies and this is how they treat us.

Now for the actual game. It can be a lot of fun. There aren't any dedicated servers, and the killer hosts the game. So if the host's connection isn't the best, then neither will be your experience.

What a fun refreshing idea for the Battle Royale genre. A must play for anyone who enjoys the style as well as anyone who's ever enjoyed Twisted Metal, Burnout, Rocket League or even Mario Kart. Sure it has some minor bugs and issues, but it's in EA so it's to be expected.

By the way, the longest queue time I expected was about a minute in a half. I have no clue what these people are ranting about. It's a fun free game. Why not give it a shot?
