Overall, I love this game and it's style of play. If you are looking for a fun solo/friends game with a medium learning curve and multiple playstyles, Dead by Daylight is for you!

Pros:
  • Different playstyles - you can sneak around, you can be altruistic and save everyone, you can be selfish, you can be bold.
  • Matches are short - expect an average of 10-15 minutes.
  • Very fun with friends and voice comms. Definitely shows you who your real friends are....beware. Survive with Friends gives you the opportunity to come up with strategies before and during the game.
  • You don't have to push many buttons. My keyboard (minus the space bar) and my wrists thank me for this.
  • You will jump at some point, but probably more so in your first 20 games. There are few things scarier than a Hillybilly chainsawing at you when you're not expecting it.
  • The learning curve is not steep. At the beginnng you will be terrible, and will likely die. But once you get a hold on the basics, you can climb in rank. Once you start playing with better survivors/killers, you learn new strategies and get better. However, it is very difficult to get really, really good. To get to that level you have to practice, and master certain skills and strategies.
  • Great lore! All the characters have great backstories and more are consistently being added.
  • Devs are very responsive to the community. They hold weekly Twitch streams to talk about the game and where it's headed.
  • Lots of fun alternative outfits (and more being added all the time). Some are exclusive, some are given for free, some are sold for $4 bundles, and some are rewards for prestiging.
  • Game gets consistent patches with new content. The meta is always changing, so the game doesn't get stale.

Cons:
  • Community can be very toxic (especially at higher ranks). Since I came from the moba community, this is nothing new for me. However, you'll need thick skin if you're going to main/play killer. After all, you are murdering people, so expect a lot of salt.
  • Infinites exist. These are places where survivors can "loop" and if played right, they will never get caught. So you can be held hostage in a game for 30-40 minutes until you catch the last survivor who decides to try to get you to rage quit.
  • Lots of bugs. Killers can get trapped in pallets, survivors/killers can fall off the map, games can start with only 3 survivors, etc. So don't expect a polished game.
  • Poorly optimized - some people with 1080's only get 30 fps. With my 970, I usually get 60 fps, but sometimes it drops to 48 fps, and on Haddonfield it drops as low as 35 fps.
  • No servers - killers are the hosts. This means a killer from Asia can change their region to the US and the lag for survivors is terrible. Killers can also use lag switches, and there have been complaints about DDOSing as well.
  • DLCs are not free. So there are some characters that you can never get unless you pay for them.
