Good game so far, but can't possibly recommend it in this state, unless you're one of the people that's able to brute force decent performance.

Early Access Review
+Story and Cutscene Presentation (VO and lip syncing are particularly good.)
+Gorgeous Art Style.
+Area Design.
+Decent Variety in both weapon and enemy types.
+Game feels responsive and combat is weighty.

-Performance. I generally let this slide when it comes to EA games, but I feel it's worth noting because there's been an unhealthy trend of issues like this never being fixed by launch.
-Item/Weapon Durability. This should just be removed honestly.
-Inventory Management/Gathering. Tying inventory capacity to boss progress is incredibly limiting. I shouldn't be picking and choosing what to loot and when, this isn't a survival game. I'm not asking for unlimited inventory, but the less time I spend dropping items to pick up other items or stashing stuff, the better. As it is, it actively detracts from the experience.
-Enemy placement, particularly ranged or large enemies in very precarious locations. I understand the intended challenge, but having enemies on ledges that can barely contain them makes it seem like the intent was purely to annoy the player when it comes to actually navigating them.

Overall so far I've been enjoying it, and I can recommend it even this early on. The combat feels good and the area design is really good, but there's the odd design choice here and there, mostly involving inventory management that kind of baffles me. It gives the semblance of a game that's trying to be a soulslike but is also trying to be a survival crafting game, but when one of those things works against the other, it feels forced and breaks the flow of the game.

After Finishing the game on PC.
Running a 3070ti and a 5800x.

Can't really recommend in its current state. The game is playable at the bare minimum on lower resolutions and settings, but a plethora of technical issues overall leave a whole hell of a lot to be desired.
A shame, the gameplay itself is actually pretty great, as someone who's put well over 1000 hours into Monster Hunter, it's a fun alternative, perhaps the best alternative so far.
The weapons feel good, the monsters are fuggin' huge and threatening, the karakuri system works well, it's responsive (mostly), and it's a pretty nice looking game, at least I imagine it would be if I didn't have to run it at well below native resolution to get anything even remotely resembling a decent fps.

Needed more time, for a game to release this poorly optimised is simply unacceptable. Sadly, while this is already a trend for Koei Tecmo, it's starting to encompass PC gaming as a whole. This games chances of succeeding have already been severely impacted because of it, one can only hope it gets fixed quickly.

I hope Wo Long doesn't run this terribly on release. (The demo actually ran pretty well!)

Edit: Well after playing the game for another 7 hours, This review is just reinforced further.
After the game crashed to desktop once (actually the only crash I've had surprisingly), the game now utterly refuses to launch. I've tried uninstalling both the game and EA App itself, installing them to different locations, on different drives. I've even uninstalled the game and then deleted registry entries in an effort to erase even a trace of it before reinstalling. Still nothing. Hands down the worst launch experience I've had with a game in recent memory.

Edit 2: Managed to fix my launch issues by deleting the system save data for the game (even though i'd previously tried this to no avail, it chose to work the 3rd time around).

Edit 3: The new 1.0.3 Patch actually managed to make my performance worse. Fantastic.
I was managing to play the game fairly smoothly capped to 30, but now I can't even manage that, there is literally no combination of ingame settings that I can use to get smooth gameplay anymore.

Edit 4: Finished the story. Endgame sucks.

Fantastic game from Shinji Mikami, you can think of it as the road not taken for Resident Evil.
Awesome looking game, gameplay is great and the has plenty of intense moments for those into their horror.
A damn solid title and a prime example of one that should have had a sequel by now.

Sweeping Declaration: Better than Resident Evil 4.

I'm going to hide now.
