I'm rewriting this review because I felt my first one was too harsh, unfair and very hyperbolic.

After much introspection, a few more hours of gameplay and doing some further "investigation", I'm gonna say that the bad matches I've had were just par for the course and that even the best players have games as bad as some of the games I've had.

Is this game hard to get into? Absolutely, it's got a steep learning curve and if you care about KDR and win/loss then your stats are gonna be pretty crap when you first start.

Is this game fun? Definitely, the game has improved drastically since it's early stages in beta, the hitboxes feel better, I haven't had a shot bounce off another light Champion since they updated the hitboxes. When you have a good match it feels REALLY good, it's very satisfying.

If you're a Quake vet or you're familiar with arena shooters then this is definitely worth a shot. If you're new to Quake or arena shooters, then this will be an uphill battle but I'm gonna say something that I didn't say in the original review: Don't give up! It's rough at the start, but it gets better and then it's only uphill from there.

In addendum: the final reason why I've changed my review is because I want this game to succeed and I don't want to turn people away with a needlessly cynical and bitter review.

After over 1000 hours of play and spending well over £100 on a Founder's Package and several Prime Access packs, I can safely say that this game will get it's hooks in you and once it does it's not letting go, even when I take breaks from the game due to burnout(more on that later) I still think about this game and returning to it. This game's update cycle has been a journey, from a very basic third person shooter with rudimentary and tacked on parkour to this fast paced, frantic off the walls looter shooter, it has been a very interesting ride. DE keeps this game updated frequently, one of the reasons why so many people stay, and are always trying to pump new life into this game.

Two issues you might want to be aware of before you play: The new player experience is really dull, you start with mostly crap gear, barely any money or resources and it will take you quite a while to get anywhere in this game without friends, especially without friends who have been playing for a long time as they can hook you up with some good mods and some plat(Platinum, the game's premium currency) to get yourself going. The last one, at least for me, is that this game can cause some serious burnout as this game is very farmy, you will spend HOURS doing the same missions over and over and over again just to get one blueprint, or one component, or to farm a specific resource and that can wear down on you pretty hard after a while.

With all that said though, the best way to learn about this game is to try it for yourself as a picture is worth 1000 words, the game is free so all you're losing is time. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go stand in a relay for 2 hours showing off my Founder gear like I've got nothing better to do. Cheerio!

At the end of my previous review I stated: "Their actions have dictated that they wish to improve the game and deliver the game they intended to deliver initially, we just need to be patient."

Well, Hello Games only went and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did it!

It's been two years since No Man's Sky launched and was met with overwhelming negativity, I never bought into the hype and got it on day 1 despite the negative reviews after trying it out via Steam family share. I honestly really liked what I saw, it was a relaxing, peaceful game that to this day serves as a counter point to all the stress enducing crap I generally play these days *COUGH* FOR HONOR *COUGH*. I only found out about the controversy surrounding this game after the fact and I didn't care then and I still don't care now. People still continue to argue the morality of Sean Murray's tirades about this game pre-launch and what it was going to have, given what we have seen from this studio thus far it's clear that he wasn't lying but just wasn't clear about when these features would be in the game. I think it's time to lay off the guy now as he's clearly learned from this experience and his team have delivered a quality product, granted it took longer than it should've but this is a small team working on something massive, Rome wasn't built in a day.

So what's changed? Well for starters the UI has seen an overhaul, it's much cleaner and less bulky than before, the game's tutorial is a lot more in depth and teaches you about deployable technology(which can now be picked up and carried everywhere), the building materials and resources have been updated which is going to take some getting used to(having muscle memory issues with that in particular), the game has a 3rd person camera and you can customise your player model however you like, the story and lore have been vastly expanded, the planet generation algorithm has never been better and so much more. The real draw of this latest update has been a point of contention since launch and that is Multiplayer, yes multiplayer is finally in the game and you can play with your friends in one giant persistant universe, you can stop asking for it now.

I can ramble on and on about all the new and wonderful things that have come to this game from previous updates and how drastically this new update has changed the game, but I'm still getting lost in this new update so you will have to discover the finer details on your own, as of writing this game is 50% off and it is more than worth it. As for people still leaving negative reviews even after all these updates, I say let naysayers be naysayers and take what they say into consideration as they're entitled to believe whatever they want to believe. If you're still on the fence then I say keep browsing the review section, watch some videos or streams on the new update and check out the patch notes on the official website.

In my previous review I also stated that I was keeping my review negative because I didn't feel that the game was at a point where I could fully recommend it, it was good but not good enough. However now I can say that the game is definitely good enough and I definitely recommend this game to anyone who has an interest in a more tranquil space experience.

Day 1: Killed about 50 people, wonder how often that will happen.

Day 2: Killed about 500 people, I'm starting to see a pattern here.

Day 3: Over 1000 people killed today, I'm starting to get good at this.

Day 4: Successfully halved the population with maximum efficiency.

Day 5: Where did everybody go?

It's a game about killing people what else is there to say?

It's brutal, it's unforgiving, things can and will go bad for you but it's all good fun. A game around scoring Touchdowns while beating the ever loving ♥♥♥♥ out of your opponent. Just hope to hell that Nuffle is on your side.
