This game is a labor of love and a love letter to the soulsborne genre. Explore the beautiful dreamy locations, encounter enemies of all types with all kinds of abilities and attack patterns. The unique art style is like what you remember the 80s and early 90s being in your dreams (Shadow of the Beast, Golden Axe, Prince of Persia, Barbarian, Moonstone). Sound design is on point. I can't wait for the full release to experience the entirety of Tempest's saga and enter the age of high adventure!

Play as one of 4 unique heroes - more to come after release - and master their different combat styles, recalls and techniques. Find all the exotic loot, hidden bosses and uncover the plot that threatens the kingdom

For Crom!

I'm the artist for the game, so take this review with a grain of salt - or not, I love it!

A beautiful and grotesque world filled with disgusting and dreadful beings forgotten by time.... I haven't finished exploring this place, but I am intrigued and what I have seen so far is very promising

This game is amazing

Gameplay: it is a 2D sidescrolling metroidvania with a souls-like combat system. The enemies deal a lot of damage and you have to either dash to avoid or parry, parrying restores health. You can also parry magic and if you do so successfully your next attack is the magic you just parried. I love this system, it makes fighting enemies engaging and challenging

Story: the story is also a labor of love it seems, the narrator guides you through the story, but makes mistakes or misremembers, which is tied into the death system, a nice explanation as to why things work the way they do. I won't spoil anything else though, you'll have to play the rest for yourself

Graphics: Everything fits together nicely, there are a lot of 2D pixel art games out there, most of the games in the same genre are over the top or overly stylized. In Windmills the colors are kept more real which gives it a more grounded look. They do their job, you aren't confused about what things are and everything is clear so you can focus on the gameplay and story

I haven't finished it yet, but it is very promising and from what I see it play great on the Steam Deck as well

I played this when it came out, it wasn't the easiest game to play, but I was a kid. I bought this to have in my library, if you don't understand why this game is considered a masterpiece it is probably because you are a kid and the game is older than you are

Fast paced shooting action, still needs work of course, but it has the basics down, all it needs is more meat for the grinder

Pros:
Pretty good in general. The champions are pretty awesome as models and as abilities.
Gameplay is pretty fast.

Cons:
Matchmaking is crappy in that you have to wait for some time after each match, games are 10 minutes for example, but you wait for 2-3 minutes between them, if I want to play for an hour I end up just waiting for 10-15 minutes. I like Quake because I can just jump in and frag someone, not to wait until you can setup a match - and NO ONE goes for the rematch, there is always one person that drops out and that means the re-match gets cancelled.

In Quake 3 Arena you found a server and the server cycled through the maps and you got more people in them as well.

Verdict: Get in there, maybe I can find you and frag you

Note: I was in the BETA

Finished it in about 9 hours and I really felt like I was on a Spacehulk. Huge Cathedral space ship full of xenos.

Good stuff in general, a sequel could be perfect if they fix the issues below:

- it needs a bit of work in the cinematics, dialog and general narrative department. Heads are missing animation and hidden behind scanlines etc.

- guns don't have enough weight/recoil etc Reloading animations are non-existent. Both these have to do with the reality of simulating a spacemarine, but I think a look at how overwatch handles these things would be good for the sequel (there is a GDC talk on it).

- enemies getting hit feel a bit weightless at times, but not with all weapons.

- more variety to the lines said by your teammates would help (I know "We are the angels of death", but it got repetitive after a while)

All in all a good start to what can become a good FPS franchise, especially if the team is also able to include more enemy races.

I finished this today, I have already played and finished the 'Awakened' and the 'Testament of Sherlock Holmes' so I knew what to expect and it didn't fail.

Pretty solid story and the way we reach the Ripper's identity is satisfying in that we get to examine a bunch of real suspects that are doing weird and often illegal actions, but aren't actually the perpetrator of the Ripper crimes.

The game was able to give me a real sense of the brutality of the murders near the end and the investigation parts were better than the other two games I mention.

I also liked the puzzles.

I also liked the end sequence with the Ripper as a concept, but it lacked a bit in execution.

I had a couple of issues:
- the ellipse needs to be wider
- don't switch accounts or to Desktop because the save might stop functioning after a while
