After people received the game for free there were a lot of negative reviews, because of the difficulty. I don't think the game is that difficult.

The first run I played was with my non-gamer gf and it lasted 4.5 hours and we almost won. I think we got everything important from the 2 minute tutorial and reading what we just got. We had a very noob-like death, where we forgot that there was a button for healing.

It is a solid game. Might be bit outdated to buy at full price.

Something for everyone in a nice way. The v1.0 introduced a lot of bad features, which slowed the game down a lot. Suddenly there was too much profit to be made everyday. Instead of 30 minutes a day it would be 2 hours of day, where you would be encouraged to do more chores than fun. But there was a tight early game, where there was some challenge, balance and a lot of HUMOR!

After playing 100 min of co-op here are some first impression things that turned me off:

- Too many things introduced at the start. I might prefer even introducing one or two new things every run. First two runs and I was introduced to all sort of status conditions (at least 4), 20 monsters with 1-4 attacks, multiple different items, some weird environment threats (plants that shoot or cause status condition), obstacle course area, unlock systems, perks, stats, taking plants with you, taking creatures with you, new biome, petting creatures. Almost all buttons were meant to be used (except Y and d pad up) in the first 20 minutes, there were also button combinations R-stick + L-stick and lb+rb. Even after an 90 minutes of gameplay, I would forget, which buttons were attack buttons.

- The game has too many things. It could have been a polished bullet hell game, where you use enemies as weapons. Doesn't need most of the things mentioned in last point. I think the game could have less creatures even.

- The game looks confusing. Having too many things is confusing, but here are some additional points. If there would be more polish on creatures, the attacks could be telegraphed. I played with 60hz monitor this game, so I sometimes lost where I was on the screen as there were just these big bullets everywhere. The graphics style definitely doesn't help with keeping track of yourself. Players color and silhouette change based on mounted creature and status condition very drastically. With you able to mount enemies, basically meant that 3/4 of your player actor look is identical to the enemy.

- Couldn't change keybinds for controller. Had to use 3rd party software to change them. (Played with GameCube controller)

The game supports coop really well. There are some minor problems when the game includes areas, which are bigger than the screen. I still recommend other games for coop though.

Game for babies! 👶🍼

It is a coloring book game with a story, skippable bosses and simple puzzles. A feel good game, but definitely not for me. I recommend taking a look at some gameplay footage before buying this game as I have concluded that some people have bought this game blind, because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews.

It's like risk of rain 2 without the good parts

Small summary for buyers: I think the game is pretty much like the trailers depicts it. If you think the trailers looks like fun, then give this game a shot. There is a lot of content: weapons, characters, stages, unlockables etc...(imo everything feels clunky). There are a lot of things to unlock between runs (for example stats bonuses, which I don't like).

Now I will list elements, that I didn't like in the game, mostly for devs as I go in-depth. I also give them tags, if I think they are easily fixable

Unlock system [Subjective]

As a go[o]d gamer, I would like to have the capability to have the sickest run from the start of the game, but imo sadly in this game one needs to play to unlock more stats for the character. It feels more satisfying to win, because I know I have gotten better instead of winning because my character got +critX training wheels.

I think things that make the game more complex should be unlockables, +critX unlockable is not one, but for example ascensions could be (Only 6.5/10 idea). Trying a new character can be a bit complex, because I am taking a look at 18 ascension and how they work together. If there would be for example 9 ascensions to unlocked only at the start, I wouldn't be overwhelmed, and then the game would contain more sensible things to unlock.

Exploration [Easy to fix]

Game has important chests and portals to explore. In-game there are only positive sides for exploring, so you should explore. Too bad that the exploration part is not fun. The game has invisible walls (a lot), which makes the exploration frustrating as you have to try to check the area. The characters move slow. There is no vertical movement option. It is really rare, to find something. Exploration is only fun, when you get the gold/essence from pot -scroll.

I bet you are planning to fix the invisible walls by full version, so that will be a good thing. I think you are too far into the development to make the exploration fun. Best idea would be to remove unnecessary exploration, by making the secret chests and portals emit a sound, that will be heard in every corner of the room. This means that the player can LEARN to know, when to explore and when not to. Lower the emitted sound in combat of course.

Sounds

It's difficult to hear stuff, that are not in your fov. I think it would make the game feel so much better, if you could give some audio boost to important things, that you are not able to see. I think it could be a cool cheap trick to trick player into thinking he is good. Furries have augmented ears, so it is weird that I can't hear fully armored guy running behind me.

(Game feel) Movement and Scrolls [Nothing constructive here]

The game is kind of slow. Moving feels underwhelming. I bump into walls and enemies without immediately realising (is there a bump sound?)

The scrolls could be much better. I approve the reroll feature (which, I haven't unlocked). Most scrolls they don't change how you play the game, which is disappointing, they are mostly if condition (which is 95% of time met), then increase a stat. I bet there are a lot of cool ideas, that one could do. Then some scrolls obviously needs to be paired with a synergistic scroll and the combinations are difficult to pull of without rerolling. So mostly I am choosing between a obvious good scroll and two useless ones. (Current unlockables lead to balance problems as well).

I think, I got one 6.5/10 idea for improving scrolls. Make the cursed scrolls synergy with specific scrolls really well. For example imagine, if enthusiast would be a cursed scroll (nerf it a bit). This would mean, that when one is choosing between scrolls there would be less situational (useless) scrolls to choose from and would give good reason to buff the situational scrolls.

Difficulty

I think complexity should scale with difficulty a bit more. The new players playing on normal don't need that many inscriptions on one weapon to overwhelm them, when they don't even know, what the weapon does. A lot of reading, that goes through one ear and comes out of the other.
