I really liked the first Surge game - the story, the atmosphere, the combat, the weapons, the limb targeting, however I know a lot of people didn't.

I feel as though The Surge 2 is a very big improvement on top of a game I enjoyed. If you liked The Surge 1, then you should love this. If you like Souls-Like games, you should strongly consider checking this one out.

The Good
+ The combat is super fun. If you like the type of ARPG whereby you can only take a few hits, and combat is slow and meaty, then this game is right up your alley
+ The parry system is super fun, and adds a layer of easy to learn hard to master complexity
+ The world is a lot more developed, with some very capable environmental storytelling
+ The story is engaging, using The Surge as a jumping off point.
+ The limb targeting feature is SO DAMN ADDICTIVE

The bad
- VERY poorly optimised for AMD graphics cards - I'm getting 60-80FPS On a RX5700XT
- The game world can feel as though the inhabitants are only waiting for the player, which feels like confused worldbuilding
