I would like to begin with a commentary that I made just a few minutes ago in a discussion about being able rolling back one day in the game, something that people might consider a bad thing.

“Not only that, but…
It would also make each moral dilemma less impactful, and you wouldn’t have to live with regret for doing something bad; that leaves no room for learning, or looking at things through a different perspective, as a means of growth.
I have just come back from a scavenge where I ended up stealing from people who are just like the main characters. I didn’t think at first that “not friendly”, as [stated] in the description of the inhabitants, didn’t exactly mean “bad people”… after all, who would be happy to see raiders invading their refuge during war? When I saw their reaction upon meeting me, they didn’t seem like criminals, but people who were disappointed. One of them armed with a gun, but I stood face to face with one of them who was unarmed, and they awkwardly greeted me, like they didn’t know what to do in that situation. Then, they ran away, probably to get a weapon. It made me feel even worse when I stole some medication from them, while I was actually expecting to go through their house into the abandoned one next to theirs. Also, if they were just like me in their situation, what did my action make me? Worse than them?
What a game…
I honestly feel like restarting, even in great conditions, because it feels just too wrong to keep on going over the expenses of people just like me in their situation. I could have at least gone to the supermarket under military control…
Anyway, if there was a way to go back one day in the game, I wouldn’t have felt the impact on my actions so greatly. Definitely a game feature, even if not an intended one, which I doubt at this point.
I understand the popularity of this game now… and I am glad that there are schools using it as a tool for learning.”

I was definitely not expecting that from this game, but it really does have this kind of surprises.

It might not be the most realistic, complex or punishing game in terms of survival, unlike some of the best that I have played, but it does a great job on depicting real people, and you can feel the consequences of your bad actions for sure. If you expect that every person in this game to be either good or bad, be careful, because you might end up feeling like the bad one.

Immersion-wise, this game presents a fitting soundtrack; simple, yet beautiful graphics; characters that feel charismatic with just a few words; rich storytelling that uses both verbal and non-verbal elements; and a very unique trading system, overall.

Note: so far, I have only gone past day five or so, but not because of difficulty.

Definitely worth its price, and for a good cause, by supporting beneficent campaigns against war.

Say no to war!
