This game aged really bad, it is barely playable when coming from Detroit Become Human. Xinput controls are horrendous, the game uses Steam Input translation layer instead of a native implementation and it shows. You have to be surgically accurate with your right stick moves, otherwise you're gonna fail all the QTEs. Community preset for Steam Input did not seem to help much. But that's just PC port controls. The game itself is dated, there's a lot of sequences of roaming around with no apparent goal with little to no dialogue. Graphics are PS3 era, prerendered cutscenes are of terrible quality and require downloading community upscaled ones to make them look adequate. Characters' voices also sound very compressed. This game is simply too old to enjoy it if playing for the first time.

Quantic Dream has shown a direct linear evolution over the years and there's not much reason to play their older games but for historical curiosity.

What a beautiful, beautiful game. Trosky region is arguably the best piece of open world landscapes in videogames as a whole. So many majestic spots, it's truly a Bohemian Paradise.
A big improvement over all aspects of the first Kingdom Come Deliverance. This is what the original game was supposed to be, if not for the lack of money and experience.
If you're a sucker for all things Medieval, then it's definitely a mustplay ASAP.

My only gripe is that for some reason this 2025 game does not utilize any current gen tech. It's been almost 5 years since the RT capable console's release, yet KCD2 is fully built on legacy screenspace techniques. Yes, there are SSR reflections for you with no RT option what so ever, causing this unholy mess (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpBX1MUgcXQ). This is literally The Witcher 3 2015. Speaking about lighting, there is some sort of software RT global illumination (SVOGI), but it only applies to the sun and is not very accurate. You'll encounter many instances of characters being lit and shaded wrong, breaking the immersion. This game would benefit A LOT from any kind of RT implementation, let alone Pathtracing. Fingers crossed, someday I'll see a Pathtraced Kingdom Come game

As of Nov 11th 2024 this demo is so broken that it doesn't even look good despite the UE5 :(

Although i played on the maxed out settings, it seems like Global Illumination just doesn't work what so ever, and as a result there're only Direct Lights across all scenes. Bounced lighting is absent making the game look flat and soulless.
There're also these weird immersion-breaking hard Volumetrics that genuinely make no sense.
Flashlight has a very annoying and wrong behaviour, it rapidly illuminates large/small portions of the screen space depending on objects in front of player and produces glitched shadows.
You may also encounter a soft-lock (in a 10 mins long demo xdd).
Combat feels worse than Half-Life 2's somehow, especially when using Pistol.
Also crouch-jumping feels kinda different, but i can't tell for sure

Overall it's a pretty weak showcase, hope it'll get fixed

This game just feels like a tech demo of DX10s graphical fidelity and experimental Faction Wars feature (which has completely failed apparently). Nothing really exciting about Clear Sky to tell except for its truly gorgeous graphics for its time of release.

Overall it's a great game, plays and performs well even today. The only major downside worth to mention is the end-game. The closer you get to the center of the Zone, the more Monolith soldiers you encounter. At some point it's almost as if they're endless. FYI these Elite operators with the cutting-edge tech statistically are the most killed mobs by the player. Not bandits, not some dogs, but these toughest mfs. That's not a good gamedesign at all. It gets really exhausting in the very end.

P.S. Zone Reclamation Project mod is a way to play this game, make sure to install it before playing. It focuses on bug fixes and QoL features

I've had a blast playing one of my favourite childhood games combined with modern tech. I genuinely think that all the hatred towards this project is misleading and unfair. People do not exactly understand its purpose. This game is like a glimpse of future, where fully Path Traced games is a well known standard. It's a demo of what's going to be mainstream in the future, so you shouldn't hate this game if it runs poorly on the current hardware.

Path Traced games will become a standard, because traditional rasterized approximations essentially have been pushed to their limits. You can compare it to the transition from Software rendering to Hardware rendering in the late 1990's. With all that being said, this game shows the current era of transition from traditional Rasterization to real time Path Traced games. And there's nothing wrong with it.

Totally unplayable due to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Mouse Sensitivity. It's too fast by default and too slow when in ADS. So you're just going back and forth from extremely fast sensitivity to extremely low during gameplay. Also i noticed some weird input response, seems like this game has forced mouse acceleration which is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for an FPS game.

None of these issues can be properly configured in Settings. You don't even have an INI file to change sensitivity properties manually.

Now that's how you do a proper Remaster. It's so much better in all aspects compared to the Crysis Remastered. It's actually WORKING without any unofficial mods or patches. The only flaw i've encountered is poor performance at "Masks Off" not so far from the end of the game. Massive FPS drops do happen at this level on any PC. Also faces could use some proper remastering. Besides that, it is as good as it is.

Practically unplayable without the Crysis Remastered Improvement Project mod. But even with it game still has disturbing bugs, such as essentially ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up Audio (Music in particular) which cannot be fixed.
