Honestly, it's a solid top-down shooter. Controls feel good, gameplay is fun, and it's a great Steam Deck game and runs great on it. Only downside is the fact that the game's final chapter requires you to get a gold star on all prior levels, so if you want to finish the game you'll have to put a bit of effort in.

Soo... as someone with - at the time of writing - 4,101 hours in Warframe, I think it's pretty good. That being said - of course I'm biased, I've been to Warframe's convention and met the developers - I'm pretty much as deep into the community as you can get (for better or for worse lmfao).

In all seriousness though, I started playing Warframe back in January of 2016, and while it's been so long that I frankly don't remember much from that point, I think the fact that I am still playing now is indicative of the games incredible quality. While Warframe does have its drawbacks, there is always enough variety to keep you engaged and enjoying to some degree.

The main concept of Warframe is to earn weapons and characters - by which you level up your account with to earn more weapons and characters to do missions across the solar system across several different enemy factions, all while exploring one of the most complex and engaging storylines I have seen in modern gaming frankly.

When it comes to the game's pros, there's plenty. Combat is engaging, upgrades are extremely diverse, graphics are stunning, cosmetics and customization is almost limitless, the mobility systems are the most fluid I've ever experienced, the story is incredible, and - while this may be a hot take in the Warframe community - I believe it has a devoted developer team that - while not perfect - does care about their community and the game they created.

Combat and Mobility:
Warframe's combat is stellar. There is an infinite variety of weapons, from bows that shoot exploding arrows, to shrapnel cannons, to giant tentacle guns made of flesh that shoot lasers (no I'm not kidding). Furthermore, the game's upgrade system (modding) allows you to modify the guns to your liking. Secondly, the mobility mixes with this perfectly. You can twirl into the air, latch onto a wall, shoot an enemy in mid-air, and then slam onto the ground with your melee. The mixture of combat and mobility is really the best part about Warframe's core gameplay.

Upgrade System:
Warframe's upgrade system is what really sets it apart. Warframes, guns, and any other items you can use in-game (from hoverboards, to mechs, to drones, and even cats and dogs) can be upgraded and modified to fit your play style.

Graphics:
Warframe continues to impress me with every future update. Furthermore, developer DE's support of captura mode (photo mode) allows for some stunning screenshots.

Cosmetics:
Warframe's cosmetics are some of the most loved content by the community. Many are fan-made, and are voted on by the community to be added into the game. Once added, the original artist receives a cut of every purchase made. This allows a constant artistic variety, and you can be happy knowing you helped an artist. Developer-made cosmetics cost premium currency, not real money, so you are able to earn/trade for those.

Story:
So, I'm obviously not going to spoil anything here, but Warframe does have an extremely fleshed out story line in the form of cinematic quests players can complete as they progress through the solar system. The story - without going into details - has some incredible writing, dealing with themes of philosophy, trauma, and more, all set to incredible music and beautiful imagery.

HOT TAKE OF THE HOUR - Developers:
Warframe's developers - Digital Extremes, often shortened to "DE" by the community - are a constant topic in the community, and are essentially synonymous with the game. DE holds multiple streams every week, and in multiple languages, to stay in touch with the community, and keep players informed and engaged on the games future path and plans. Now, I say this is a hot take, because like all humans - nobody is perfect. DE has seriously messed up in their past. I even took a 9 month hiatus in 2020 due to the disastrous launch of their Empyrean update. More recently, they announced plans to allow players to pay premium currency to skip the games storyline. While these screw ups do occur, they have continued to make the effort to correct mistakes, and take community feedback to heart. The best example I can give is the aforementioned "pay-to-skip story" plan. This was announced 1 month ago at the time of this review, and after frankly disastrous community response, they announced 4 days ago that it was completely scrapped. It's examples like these that I think prove that DE does continue to keep players at heart, and as a result - I list it as a pro. :3

Community:
Warframe's community is really incredible. The players are some of the kindest I've ever met, and it's not rare to see veteran players giving away free stuff to new players, to help give them a hand and progress a bit quicker. While some of the games terminology might seem confusing at first, players are often willing to help others out - Warframe even has a community-run Q&A chat in game, where players can ask/answer questions!

Now, it's cons.

Economy and Premium Currency (Platinum):
Warframe is a free-to-play game, so it does have in-game purchases. While players in-game can earn items they can trade to other players for currency, this method has more recently fallen into the background. Content seems to be coming out so often that by the time many players have items worth anything, they're either not in demand, or worth almost nothing. This leaves many players unable to do much else then buy premium currency.

Luckily, Warframe does have fairly reasonable currency pricing, and players upon logging into Warframe, will occasionally receive -20%, -50% and even -80% off coupons for currency purchases. This can really discount the financial burden and to me, an occasional currency purchase in Warframe equates to other similar multiplayer games with monthly memberships, such as WoW or Final Fantasy Online.

Grind:
Warframe is a looter shooter, and the game has a pretty bad grind at times. While it has gotten better, some weapons are better off just purchasing because of there extreme rarity. This is something that most players sort of learn to accept. Luckily, there are plenty of easy to acquire weapons that are very good, so rarity doesn't always equate to how good an item is.

Crafting:
Crafting is a core mechanic of getting new items in Warframe. Players acquire a blueprint, and after earning enough materials they collect by playing missions, they can craft said item. Craft time can range from 30 seconds to over a week for some items. This can be extremely aggravating, as some missions/content are locked behind items that you need to craft. Luckily, as you level up and progress, this becomes less of an issue, and in my case, doesn't impact me (though that's just because I've just played so long)

Content Drougts/Buggy Updates:
Warframe is known for it's buggy updates, and when it's not known for those, it's known for its long content droughts without new content. Recently, content has come out more consistently, and there is a stable flow of new content. That being said, bugs still remain prevalent, some game-breakingly bad, and this is something you'll just have to learn to accept. Good news is, the developers tend to patch bugs with hotfixes fairly quickly.

Overall, I'd say Warframe is absolutely worth it. Give it a shot. The community is extremely friendly, and always willing to help out. If you need some pointers, join the Warframe Discord server, or watch some YouTube videos!

While Atomic Heart is often compared to Bioshock, as someone who's never played Bioshock, I will share my opinions solely from the perspective of Atomic Heart alone.

Atomic Heart overall is a really enjoyable game, with fluid combat, a fairly good variety of weapons and modifications, and an incredible art style and setting.

When it comes to its pros, the style and setting of the game shine first and foremost. Mundfish's imagining of Soviet science fiction is really well done. I'm really pleased to see more Eastern European developers exploring their own cultural themes through forms like video games, and hope it continues.

Furthermore, the games combat, while a bit difficult, feels overall pretty good. Lastly, there are 4 post-launch DLCs (one of which has since been released) so it comes with a good amount of post-campaign content for people who are wanting more.

When it comes to its drawbacks, first is the lack of exploration. While sections of the game are open world, the constant presence of enemies (that instantly respawn even after you kill them) makes exploration a chore, and I wasn't really able to enjoy exploring the full map until after I had unlocked New Game+

Finally the biggest drawback of all, is the English voice acting. It really is nowhere near where a AAA game title like Atomic Heart should be, but, if one can stomach reading subtitles, this drawback is easily fixed by enabling the native Russian voice acting in the games settings. As someone who often watches anime and foreign films, I don't find subtitles to be an issue, and I find the Russian voice acting is not only better, but also fits the game's setting, taking the immersion factor up a notch.

Overall, I think Atomic Heart is a solid FPS, with a great art style and concept. While there are some rough edges - bad English voice acting, constant enemy respawns, lack of explorability, I think this can be overlooked if one is willing to take a more story-centered approach - which is what I did, mostly sticking to the waypoints the whole playthrough.

While I can't say the game is deserving of it's whopping $133 CAD premium tier (which is what I sadly paid for it), let alone it's standard price of $80 CAD, I would say if one can get the base game for $60 CAD (~$40 USD) on a sale, it would be worth it.

Lastly, I should mention that at the time of this review, there are currently 3 more planned DLCs that developer Mundfish are currently working on, so I cannot speak for the qualities of those at the time.

Absolutely incredible. Hangar 13 has truly mastered the remake of Mafia 1. The graphics are absolutely incredible, the motion capture on the characters is beautiful, and truly makes all the characters look realistic, and the time period is mastered perfectly. Driving is difficult, but extremely realistic, and quite well done considering that by no means is this a simulation or racing game. Gun play is very well done, and the game's difficulty is punishing when it needs to be. Characters are voiced incredibly well, and you are left feeling as if there's a true relationship that you've forged with them. Mafia's remake in my opinion, is one of my all time favorite games, and I plan to go back one more time for a true, 100% completion. While expensive yes, I believe that Mafia: Definitive Edition is worth every penny, and I hope that if you choose to get the game, you'll agree too.

It's a small, cute, fun, peaceful game where you just fly your plane around and do errands for the locals, and/or the occasional race. I enjoy it, nothing insane but to be honest I'd have payed $5 for this. I'd recommend it!

I got the Definitive Edition for free because I already owned the original Mafia II - Overall, I think it's a great game, and I didn't see all the bugs that everyone else is seeing. Only issues I ever saw were the occasional NPC walking into each other or a wall, and sometimes enemies will just stand in place (not often) and not attack you. Overall though, the game is fun, runs well, plays well, and is a good looking remaster. I'd recommend it!

HEAR ME OUT. If this game was still supported, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend it. Abandoned? Sadly, no. But this game has SO MUCH potential! I know that ChickenInTheCornStudio (one guy) is still active on his Facebook. I've spoke to him via Messenger. While only once, I told him that me and many others want him to return to the game, and he said he would. Sadly, that was over 2 years ago. Hopefully, if enough of us reach out/speak up, hopefully he will be convinced to return to this game.

Pros:
Amazing soundtrack,
Illustration/art style is gritty, yet so well done
Amazing concept

Cons:
The most recent update made the game a buggy mess
Sadly, Abandoned.

I love this game. I absolutely, completely, positively LOVE. THIS. GAME.
I personally think that while the driving is great, the aspect that the developers at Avalanche Studios truly nailed was the atmosphere. Mad Max, from the get-go, truly drills in the feeling that you're forgotten, alone, and abandoned in a dying world that is yet somehow so alive at the same time. Driving across vast desert landscapes with nothing but you, your car, and your mechanic as far as the eye can see truly makes you feel uneasy. Combat is simple, yet very well made, and since the majority of the game focuses on your Magnum Opus (car), you come to realize that once you leave the car, you feel so much more defenseless. You'll come across old abandoned buildings in the middle of nowhere and be forced to search for things like food, water, scrap and collectibles. Finding an old trap door leading to a pitch black basement, and thinking you're alone until two bright red eyes peer at you from down a hall is both thrilling and terrifying. And let me just say, what truly brings it all together with a beautiful metaphorical "cherry on top," is the soundtrack. It always comes in at the perfect times. Driving across barren deserts, you hear the sound of a lonely flute and calm violins to make you really feel alone, but once combat kicks in, your adrenaline skyrockets to the sound of loud tribal drums, screams, and chants, the sound of screeching metal and clanging bells. This game is a work of art in my opinion, and I always come back to it to either replay, or get to the end goal of 100% completion. GET. THIS. GAME.

P.S. The game doesn't hold your hand, yes there's quests, but there's so many side quests and free-roam stuff to do while on said quests that you can get sidetracked and realize that some 20 minute quest just took four day night cycles because you ran into a convoy of enemies, or some maze of an abandoned building down some intricate cave system.

So I got RUINER back during launch, but I'm only getting around to writing a review now - since I've replayed the game several times since then.

RUINER is a cyberpunk twin-stick shooter set in the year 2091, in which the protagonist named only "Puppy" (you), fights through the cyberpunk dystopian setting of Rengkok City to save your brother who's been captured by the mysterious figure known as "Boss."

Overall, the story is alright. Nothing crazy, but also not terrible. The art design and style of the extremely diverse hand-drawn characters is really beautiful, and fits the grimy, dystopian setting extremely well. Furthermore, the developers really nailed the cyberpunk aesthetic generally, not just with the characters, but the designs for the city, weapons, levels, and more. This isn't suprising, as several of the lead developers of the game are former CD Projekt Red employees, who left the company during the development of Cyberpunk 2077.

When it comes to the gameplay, the character perks, weapons, enemy types, and level design all make the combat and overall gameplay feel extremely fun and fluid. Furthermore, New Game+, Arena, and Speedrun modes, give the game a solid bit of replayability.

Lastly, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that RUINER may have one of the best video game soundtracks I have ever heard. While the OST that's on Steam is only the main music, I highly reccomend looking up the full soundtrack on YouTube. RUINER ended up introducing me to several artists that I love and still listen to today.

Overall, I HIGHLY reccomend you get RUINER and give it a shot. It's a great game, especially considering it was the developer's first release.
